Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Marcos De Lima (ranked 2594 p4p, 1418 weight class) and Aljamain Sterling (ranked 153 p4p, 80 weight class). Sterling is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: I Love. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marcos De Lima! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aljamain Sterling! The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sterling takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Sterling tries for a takedown but De Lima sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Sterling looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? De Lima is fending him off so far but Sterling persists. Nope, De Lima circles away and we're back to standing. Sterling stuns De Lima with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Sterling has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. De Lima uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Sterling has time to react. Aljamain Sterling seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sterling wants to clinch. Sterling ducks under a wild hook from De Lima. De Lima tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Sterling throws a head kick but De Lima moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. No luck for Sterling with that takedown attempt. De Lima swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Marcos De Lima has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aljamain Sterling. Sterling ducks under a wild hook from De Lima. De Lima throws a jab but it's blocked by Sterling.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sterling shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says De Lima as he avoids it easily. De Lima throws a looping overhand right but Sterling ducks down to avoid it. De Lima stuffs the takedown attempt from Sterling. Sterling gets slowly back to his feet. Sterling fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. The fighters circle momentarily. De Lima darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Sterling doesn't succeed with the takedown and De Lima counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Sterling shoots in for a double leg but De Lima sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Sterling slips a straight right by De Lima. Sterling uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by De Lima.
Sterling tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
That's two minutes gone in the round. De Lima pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Sterling staying out of range there. No luck with that takedown attempt from Sterling. A swing and a miss from De Lima. De Lima is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Sterling tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but De Lima swivels and escapes. De Lima misses with a hook. De Lima displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Sterling. De Lima throws an overhand right that lands on Sterling's shoulder, as Sterling tries to avoid the shot. Sterling is trying hard to land a takedown here. De Lima sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. As Sterling tries to get set, De Lima tries to push him back and clinch up but Sterling manages to avoid the attempt. This has been an exciting period of action! De Lima thows a left - swing and a miss! De Lima cracks Sterling with a good jab.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sterling shoots in looking for a takedown. De Lima tries to sprawl out of it but Sterling keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. De Lima manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Sterling ducks under a wild hook from De Lima. De Lima misses with a series of wild punches.
Sterling uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from De Lima. A looping hook to the body misses from De Lima. Sterling does a little dance to reset his feet. Sterling shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. De Lima defends it nicely. Sterling changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. De Lima tries to avoid it but Sterling manages to keep hold of a leg and drag De Lima to the ground. De Lima escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. De Lima slips a straight right by Sterling. De Lima throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sterling tries to score a power double leg takedown but De Lima sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sterling somewhat. Sterling looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Sterling trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. De Lima knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sterling on the ground. Sterling stopping the sweep attempt from De Lima. De Lima is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Reach Around that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet. Sterling cracks De Lima with a solid left hand. Sterling has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. De Lima wants to stand and escape but Sterling is having none of it. Sterling won't allow De Lima to sweep him here. De Lima utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Marcos De Lima dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Sterling is trying hard to land a takedown here. De Lima sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from De Lima. De Lima leaves Sterling with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Horrible takedown attempt by Sterling or perhaps it was just good defense by De Lima, which made it look bad. Marcos De Lima has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aljamain Sterling. De Lima throws a shot from downtown. Sterling moves away and avoids it. De Lima manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Sterling on his heels. He'll look to pass Sterling's guard now, I'm sure. De Lima postures up.

He's managed to get a loose triangle. De Lima doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Sterling is tightening it up a little... De Lima has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! De Lima reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! De Lima taps out! Nice BJJ there by Sterling!
