PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between David Alpin (ranked 2764 p4p, 4290 weight class) and Mark Andrew (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that David Alpin has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily David Alpin seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, David Alpin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mark Andrew!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Patrick Alders and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alpin fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Andrew looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Andrew shoots in for a takedown but Alpin shows good takedown defense.
Andrew has a takedown stuffed.
Alpin tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Andrew was well out of range. Poor timing from Alpin.
Alpin connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Alpin bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Andrew's head.

Alpin clinches with his opponent.
Andrew tries to score a body lock takedown but Alpin shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
David Alpin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Andrew.

Andrew manages to break the clinch.

Alpin darts in and clinches Andrew up against the cage.
Alpin lands a left hand.
Andrew gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Alpin.
Andrew jumps guard but Alpin turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Alpin is leaning against Andrew and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Andrew tries to stall but Alpin uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Alpin breaks from the clinch.

Andrew shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Alpin manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Andrew looks winded!
Andrew trying to control the position from guard on top but Alpin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Alpin looking for a sweep. Not yet Alpin, not yet.
Andrew wants to control from the top but Alpin keeps moving.
Alpin looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Alpin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Andrew on the ground.

Alpin has Andrew pulled in close to control his posture.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A punch lands to the side of Andrew 's head but he takes it in his stride.

It looks like Mark Andrew has been cut.

Alpin has Andrew up against the cage in a clinch.
Alpin is working for takedown but Andrew is calmly controlling the position for now.
Alpin lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Andrew.
Andrew slows down the pace here.
Alpin lands a right hand that snaps the head of Andrew backwards.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A left hand lands to the body for Alpin.
A nice right hand lands inside from Alpin.
A short left from Alpin.
A body shot lands from Alpin.
Alpin lands a nice uppercut.
Alpin lands with a right to the head.
Alpin is working Andrew over against the cage.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Alpin.
A shot in the inside from Alpin.
Still in the clinch, Alpin scores with a nice short uppercut.
Alpin pushes Andrew back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Alpin lands a left hand that snaps the head of Andrew backwards.

Andrew is rocked!
A head punch blocked on the inside by Andrew.

Alpin lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Andrew is still on wobbly legs! Can Alpin finish him?
Alpin fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Alpin throws a head punch that misses.
Andrew blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Alpin swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Andrew seems to have recovered his senses.
Alpin makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Alpin creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Alpin pushes Andrew against the cage. Alpin is working some dirty boxing. Alpin pushes off with a quick right hook! Andrew goes down! Andrew tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Alpin moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). David Alpin!
