Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kob Khun Hongtong!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Glass and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mesquita shoots in for a takedown but Hongtong shows good takedown defense.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Mesquita.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The strikes coming from Mesquita are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Mesquita trying to control the action but Hongtong is working from the bottom.
Mesquita has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hongtong is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Mesquita asserts his dominance and retains side control.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hongtong felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Hongtong wants to get back to his feet.
Mesquita cracks Hongtong with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Mesquita is working to tighten his grip on Hongtong's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Hongtong has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Mesquita is really squeezing tight and eventually Hongtong passes out! Mesquita breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
