The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Valens lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hammer circles away quickly and effectively. Jimmy Valens seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hammer lands a nice shot that snaps Valens's head back.
It looks like Jimmy Valens has been cut. Hammer uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Valens. Hammer swinging wilding here.
Hammer blocks a jab. Valens throws a chopping leg kick but Hammer manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Hammer misses with the combination.

Valens scores with a nice right hand.
Valens throws a jab when Hammer was well out of range. Valens throws a combination that misses and Hammer counters with a left and a right that stings Valens. Horrible takedown by Valens or perhaps it was just good defense by Hammer which made him look bad. Valens shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hammer but Hammer pushes him off and we're back to square one. Hammer clinches up against the cage. Valens misses with a punch to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hammer lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Hammer swings wildly with an uppercut but Valens uses good head movement to avoid it. Valens blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Hammer lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Hammer lands a right hand that snaps the head of Valens backwards. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Hammer takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Valens manages to break the clinch.
Hammer lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Valens circles away quickly and effectively. Hammer lands with a nice combination. Valens backs away looking to recover. Hammer throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Valens. Valens misses with a double jab
enabling Hammer to counter with a crisp jab.
Valens is rocked! Valens avoids a punch combination nicely.
Hammer throws a monster overhand right that drops Valens! Hammer follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!
