Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jayson Howard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rory Athol!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Percy O'Donnell and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Athol with a jab.
Athol scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Howard doesn't seem bothered though.
Athol rushes Howard and presses him up against the cage.
Athol makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Athol digs a right hand underneath Howard's ribcage. Howard let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Athol lands with a left to the head.
Athol struggles to land a body shot inside as Howard controls his hands.
Howard wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Athol has him pressed against the cage.
Athol lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Howard.
A short right from Athol.
Athol lands a hook that snaps the head of Howard backwards.
Howard looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Athol gets through Howard's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Howard prevents a body shot from Athol.
Athol works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Howard is trying to force a seperation but Athol has the dominant position.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Howard swings wildly with an uppercut but Athol uses good head movement to avoid it.
Athol makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Still in the clinch, Athol scores with a nice short uppercut.
Athol lands a nice uppercut.
Athol tries to throw a body punch but Howard avoids it by throwing Athol back against the cage.
Athol pushes Howard back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Howard takes a shot to the head.
Athol lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Athol stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Athol breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Athol lands a left and a right that send Howard crashing to the mat, dazed. Athol thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Howard is rocked!
It looks like Jayson Howard has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Howard glances at the clock... BAM! Athol nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Howard crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Howard is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Rory Athol!
