The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rios connects with a solid leg kick.
Some wild striking there from Rios.
Member fails to land the takedown.
Rios misses with a few strikes there.
Member tries a head kick but it misses.
Gold Member seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Member shoots in and drives through. Rios sprawls well.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Member.
Member fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jesus Rios has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gold Member.
An inside leg kick lands from Rios.
Member changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rios tries to avoid it but Member manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rios to the ground. Rios escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Member takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Member takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

A jab-cross combination lands for Rios and sends Member crashing to the mat! Rios follows him down to the mat - Member regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!

It looks like Gold Member has been cut.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Member misses with a kick to the body
and Rios counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Nice takedown defense from Rios. No joy for Member on that attempt.
Rios closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Rios throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Member shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rios as he avoids it easily.
Rios cracks a nice hook into Member's ribs.
Jesus Rios is winning the standup battle so far.
Rios stalks Member and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Member's face. Member staggers backwards, shaken.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rios scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Rios is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Member can do to turn this around?
Rios throws a combination. Member tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Rios drops Member with a right and a left! Rios comes rushing in but Member regains his composure and manages to keep Rios in guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Member can do anything to dispel that myth.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Member looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rios is fending him off so far but Member persists. Nope, Rios circles away and we're back to standing.

Rios fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Member looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Rios thuds his right hand into Member's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Member shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rios's guard.

Member postures up in Rios's guard and throws a big left but Rios blocks it.

Member throws and elbow that misses. Rios uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Member's guard. Nice move by Rios!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Rios lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Gold Member has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Rios is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Member looks for a takedown but Rios sprawls well.

Rios is looking to slow Member down with leg kicks.
Member shoots for a double leg takedown but Rios sprawls well. He's pushed Member's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Rios feints and then cracks Member's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Member down.

Member has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.

Rios will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Rios is looking to wear down Member with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Rios fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Rios rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Member moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

and Member takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Rios thumps Member with a low kick.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rios lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Rios lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Jesus Rios is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Member fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Well Rios has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
