Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rob Roy (ranked 49 p4p, 172 weight class) and James Cole (ranked 10 p4p, 30 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 32 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rob Roy! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 29 - 14 - 3, fighting out of New York, James Cole! The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Summer Carpenter and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A slow jab from Roy misses its intended target. Cole looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Roy scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Roy throws a half hearted mid kick. Cole throws a big counter head kick but Roy avoids it with no problem. Cole throws a jab when Roy was well out of range. Cole lands a glancing blow to the side of Roy's head. Roy cracks Cole with a good jab. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Roy throws out a token jab with nothing on it. It seemed like Cole was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Roy tries to land a front kick but Cole steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Roy misses with a looping left.
That's one minute gone in the round. Roy throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Cole gets tackled into the cage by Roy. Roy maintains the clinch. Roy lands a left hand.

Cole swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Roy throws a knee to the head but misses.
Cole fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Cole tries to throw a body punch but Roy avoids it by throwing Cole back against the cage. Roy misses with an elbow strike.
Cole throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Cole throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. Cole tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Roy smiles and moves away.
Cole ducks under a wild hook from Roy. Roy ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Roy misses the body punch and Cole connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Roy lands a nice shot to the body.
Rob Roy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Roy misses with a kick to the body.
Cole throws a big counter head kick but Roy avoids it with no problem. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Roy avoids the head kick by Cole.
Cole missing with a left hand there. Roy was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Cole moves out of range of the body kick. Cole uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Roy. Cole throws out a counter right but Roy avoids it with no problem. Cole missing with a left hand there. Roy was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. It appears Roy was looking to counter with a kick there. Roy avoids the head kick by Cole.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Roy looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Roy throws a lazy uppercut
and Cole counters with a straight right hand. Cole slips a jab from Roy. Cole looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it. Cole misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A little feinted left hand from Roy on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Roy catches Cole with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Cole scores with a nice strike. Roy lands a nice shot that snaps Cole's head back.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Sloppy strikes from Cole. Those never looked like landing. Cole throws the left hand but Roy avoids the punch easily. Roy lands a body shot.
Roy looks to land a body kick but Cole moved away. Good exchange - Roy coming out on top. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Roy scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Donk. Cole catches Roy right on the button with a cross. Cole moves out of range of the body kick. A little jabbing left from Cole on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Rob Roy dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Roy swings away with a body shot that misses
and Cole counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Roy scores with a body shot.
Cole throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. A left lands for Roy. Cole connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Cole misses with a head kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A looping hook to the body misses from Roy. Cole does a little dance to reset his feet. Cole avoids a low kick by using good footwork. A swing and a miss from Roy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Roy loads up on a big right hand but Cole slips the punch. Roy connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Cole has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off. Roy throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Roy jabs Cole to the body, keeping him at a distance. Cole swinging wildly here.
Cole misses with a straight left. Roy connects with the punch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Roy throws a leg kick that is checked and Cole counters with a stiff right hand. Cole has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Roy. Roy cracks Cole with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Roy has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Cole to stand back up!
Cole is rocked! This has been an exciting period of action! Roy lunges in with a left hook that violently twists Cole head around and knocks him out cold! Roy hops onto the cage and yells out at the top of his lungs - Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaah! They're showing the replay on the big screens now; that was nasty! I hope one of the photographers got a good shot of it.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Rob Roy! Rob Roy retains his lightweight title! An out of breath Rob Roy thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
