Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ron Austin (ranked 23560 p4p, 5931 weight class) and Ben Burner (ranked 250 p4p, 0 weight class). Ron Austin has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ron Austin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ben Burner! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Dean Styles and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Burner throws a hook but Austin blocks it. Burner looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Austin dives in and grabs Burner's left leg, looking for a takedown. Burner pushes down on Austin's head and hops out. A big right from Burner misses. Austin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Austin appears to be looking for a big counter. Burner gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Austin pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Burner is keeping the position for now. Burner wants to sweep here but Austin controlling him for the moment. Burner keeping full guard, as Austin tries to pass. Austin has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Austin slips nicely into half guard. Burner is trying to get back to full guard. Austin is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Burner is just riding it out for now. Austin eventually gives up the hold.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Austin frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Burner can do anything to dispel that myth. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Austin wants to take his opponent's back but Burner doesn't allow it. Burner tries to hold on but Austin postures up. Burner can't escape the position.
Burner tries to lock up and control but Austin gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Austin is looking to work his way around to Burner's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position. Austin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Burner on the ground. Austin takes Burner's back.

Burner wants to stand but Austin has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Burner is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Austin is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Austin looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Austin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Burner can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Austin being controlled here, momentarily. Burner trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Austin had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Burner defends it easily. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Burner has eaten all the pies! Austin keeping moving, preventing Burner from controlling successfully. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Ron Austin dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Austin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Burner's waist but Burner gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Austin off to one side. Burner fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Austin. Austin shoots for a double leg takedown but Burner sprawls well. He's pushed Austin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ron Austin. That's going to take a lot out of him. Austin closes the distance and clinches up with Burner, looking for a takedown. Austin pushes Burner against the cage but Burner circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Austin closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Burner to the mat! Burner manages to get full guard. Burner looking to control.

Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Austin throwing shots but Burner is blocking nicely.

Austin moves nicely into side control. Burner is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Austin is controlling him well. Burner prevents Austin from improving position. A bit of a lull in the action here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Burner manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Austin looking for submissions off his back. Burner seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Austin does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Austin looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Burner passes the guard and advances to mount! Austin tries to reverse the position but Burner maintains control. Burner controlling the position easily from mount. Burner trying to control but Austin is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Burner might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Austin haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Austin is looking to get to half guard. Burner trying to control but he's not successful this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Austin is in all sorts of trouble here.

Ron Austin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Burner wants to control but Austin is keeping busy. I would not like to be Austin right now.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Burner has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Austin's body.

Ben Burner showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round! Austin tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Burner defends well and Austin ends up having to push Burner into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Burner is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Austin wants to take the fight to the mat but Burner manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Austin is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Burner pulls him back up using the underhooks. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ron Austin. That's going to take a lot out of him. Burner is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Austin gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Burner trying to control the position.

Austin fails to move to back control. Austin is working hard here to advance position. Burner is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Burner is looking to get to half guard. Austin wants to take Burner's back but he can't do it this time. Burner regains half guard.

Austin will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Austin tries to pass the half guard into mount. Burner knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Burner looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Burner is looking to improve his position.
Austin wants to pass the guard but Burner is defending well. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Burner is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Austin is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Burner doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Austin.
