PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Bowers (ranked 2515 p4p, 3567 weight class) and Kemar Powell (ranked 363 p4p, 479 weight class). Powell is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Lil Baby & Lil Durk - Hats Off. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ryan Bowers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kemar Powell!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Daniel Bishop and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bowers jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Powell misses with a straight right.
Bowers throws a shot from downtown. Powell moves away and avoids it.
Powell throws out a powerful jab.
Powell throws the left hand but Bowers avoids the punch easily.
Bowers throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Powell sees it coming and avoids it easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bowers throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Powell counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Bowers takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Powell fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bowers manages to avoid it.
Bowers throws a body shot but no joy.
Powell swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

and Bowers counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Powell connects with a leg kick.
Powell with a nice calf kick.
Powell lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Bowers connects with a looping right hand.

Powell takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Powell misses with a hook. Bowers ducked under it nicely.
Powell throws an overhand right that lands on Bowers's shoulder, as Bowers tries to avoid the shot.
Bowers shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
A telegraphed right hand from Bowers misses the target.
Powell throws a lazy right hand but Bowers sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Powell rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bowers moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Bowers connects with a jab.

and Powell counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Bowers misses with a body kick.
Bowers showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Powell.
As Powell backs away, Bowers returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
A looping hook to the body misses from Bowers. Powell does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kemar Powell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bowers moves into range and connects with a jab.
Powell takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Bowers takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Powell is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Bowers on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Powell. Powell obviously looking to wear him down.

Bowers walks into a left hand.
A decent looking cross lands there for Powell.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Powell gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Bowers.
Bowers slips a jab from Powell.
Bowers keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A quick step to the side and Bowers tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bowers rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Powell counters with a nice uppercut.
Bowers is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.
Powell throws a hook but Bowers blocks it.
Powell is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Bowers had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.
Powell swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Bowers is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Powell cracks Bowers with an open hand slap.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kemar Powell dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Bowers throws a shot from downtown. Powell moves away and avoids it.
Powell throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Bowers blocks a head kick by Powell.
Bowers swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Powell counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Bowers might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.
Powell throws a body kick that misses
and Bowers counters with a straight right hand.
Powell throws a head kick that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bowers takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Powell tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Bowers is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Powell.
Powell throws out a counter right but Bowers avoids it with no problem.

Oooooh!!! Bowers has knocked Powell down with a huge combo! Bowers steps away and waves a wobbly Powell back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

It looks like Kemar Powell has been cut.
Bowers takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Powell misses with a left hand
and Powell takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Bowers looks to land a combination but Powell avoids it well.
Kemar Powell seems to be getting the better of the standup.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Bowers steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Powell.
Powell throws a body kick that misses.
Powell misses with a left hand
and Bowers connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Powell darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Powell swings widly with a right hand
and Bowers counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Powell throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Powell looks to score with a jab to the body but Bowers is just out of range.

Bowers cracks Powell with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Powell looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Bowers finish him?

Powell is rocked!
Crunch! Bowers slams his shin into Powell's torso.
Powell just misses with a punch to the body.
Bowers moves out of range as Powell strikes.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bowers thows a left - swing and a miss!
Bowers cracks Powell with a hook to the temple - Powell is on wobbly legs here! Bowers swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Powell falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Bowers wins by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:16 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Ryan Bowers!
Our winner, Ryan Bowers, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
