Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tai Kina!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chaz Popizicki!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Dean Styles and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kina uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Popizicki.
Kina is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Popizicki.
Popizicki just misses with a punch to the body.
Kina seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Kina drives through and clinches with Popizicki against the cage.

Kina lands a takedown into guard.
Popizicki is trying to control the position but Kina postures up.

Kina avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Kina tries to free his leg and advance position but Popizicki is retaining full guard.
Kina has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Popizicki is proving hard to escape from.
Popizicki looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Kina knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Popizicki on the ground.
Kina is stalling in the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kina pushes down on Popizicki's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Popizicki is looking to control Kina's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Popizicki avoid being mounted?

Popizicki is looking for a sweep. Kina is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Kina definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Kina stands up and beckons Popizicki to join him on the feet.
Popizicki throws out a loose jab but Kina uses good head movement to avoid it.
Popizicki misses with a jab to the body

and Kina counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Kina.
Kina stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Popizicki swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Popizicki controls Kina momentarily but Kina frees himself.

Popizicki is working an open guard so Kina takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Nice takedown defense from Kina. No joy for Popizicki on that attempt.

Kina drives through with a takedown into guard.

Kina slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Popizicki is looking for a sweep.

Kina decides to stand back up. Kina steps back and let's Popizicki get back to his feet.
Kina on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kina closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Kina prevents a body shot from Popizicki.

Kina drags the fight down to the ground.
Popizicki wants to control from the top but Kina keeps moving.
Popizicki content to stall in guard here.
Popizicki trying to control the position from guard on top but Kina is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kina wants to stand up but Popizicki is controlling him.
Popizicki in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Popizicki stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kina swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Popizicki wants to control from the top but Kina keeps moving.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Popizicki leaves Kina with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Kina shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Popizicki's guard.
Kina would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Kina has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Popizicki to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Kina is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Popizicki pulls down on the head and he's put Kina to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Chaz Popizicki!
An out of breath Chaz Popizicki thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
Tai Kina was interviewed post fight and said 'Back To the gym! '.
