Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pete Doherty! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robert Wiltsie! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wiltsie misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Doherty.
Wiltsie throws a head kick that misses. Wiltsie lands a nice shot to the body.
Wiltsie misses with a two punch combination.
Doherty has a takedown stuffed. Wiltsie throws a head kick that misses. Doherty connects with a solid leg kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wiltsie looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Doherty gets the takedown into side control. Doherty in side control, throwing shots but Wiltsie defends. Doherty has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Doherty is looking to take a break and control but Wiltsie is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Doherty throwing strikes but missing, from side control. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Doherty feints and as Wiltsie raises his hands in defense, Doherty changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Wiltsie wants to get back to his feet but Doherty is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Doherty pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Wiltsie is keeping the position for now. Doherty not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wiltsie has control of Doherty's left arm, preventing Doherty from doing any damage. Let's hope that Wiltsie has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Doherty slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Doherty throwing shots but missing, from side control. Wiltsie dodges the ground and pound from Doherty. Doherty tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Wiltsie tries to bench press Doherty off him but Doherty keeps the position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Doherty lands a decent elbow from side control. Doherty working away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wiltsie throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Wiltsie throws a half hearted mid kick. Robert Wiltsie is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Wiltsie takes a swing at Doherty's ribcage but misses. Wiltsie jabbing away but nothing is landing. Wiltsie ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Doherty moves away. Wiltsie looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Wiltsie looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Wiltsie! Doherty is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Wiltsie off and has taken his back! Wiltsie trying to control the position but Doherty manages to sink in the hooks.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Doherty's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Wiltsie wants to control his opponent's hands but Doherty gets his hands free. Doherty missing with strikes. A lull in the action here.
Doherty is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Wiltsie trying to control but not successfully. Doherty lands a shot to the head. Despite being in a bad position, Wiltsie is controlling the hands, preventing any submission attempts. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Jab, jab by Wiltsie - just one landing. Doherty misses with a looping left. Wiltsie throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Doherty misses with a head kick.

Doherty tries for a takedown but Wiltsie sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Robert Wiltsie is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Pete Doherty clearly takes that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Wiltsie throws a combination that misses and Doherty counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Wiltsie throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Nice shot lands for Doherty. The fighters circling - Wiltsie throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Doherty ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Wiltsie throws a head kick that misses and Doherty cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Wiltsie defending well as Doherty loads up on a big left hand. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wiltsie takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

and Doherty counters with a nice double leg into side control. Wiltsie won't be happy with that. Doherty wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wiltsie keeps working. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wiltsie is trying to get back to his feet. Wiltsie is not content to let Doherty control the position.

Doherty with the ground and pound but Wiltsie regains half guard under the barage of strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wiltsie blocking the ground and pound attempt from Doherty.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Doherty looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Wiltsie with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Wiltsie is staying active underneath Doherty, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Wiltsie trying to control but Doherty postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Nice defenses there by Wiltsie. Wiltsie misses with a body punch
and Doherty counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Wiltsie avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Doherty. Doherty is working for a submission of some sort.
Doherty seems to be working for a kimura but Wiltsie defends the submission attempt. Wiltsie pushes Doherty off looking to stand but Doherty dives back in and keeps control.

Pete Doherty had his way with Robert Wiltsie in that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Wiltsie fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Doherty manages to avoid it. Doherty looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Wiltsie! Wiltsie wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Doherty.
Wiltsie sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Wiltsie is trying to stand up here but Doherty is controlling him well. Doherty is trying to control the action in half guard but Wiltsie is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Wiltsie manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wiltsie can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Doherty controls the pace. Doherty being controlled here momentarily. Doherty won't allow Wiltsie to get back to his feet. Doherty is stalling in the full guard. Doherty trying to control the position from guard on top but Wiltsie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Doherty drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Wiltsie manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Doherty has Wiltsie in his guard. Wiltsie slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Wiltsie trying to stand up but can't free himself from Doherty's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Doherty throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Pete Doherty overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Wiltsie is looking to stand up but Doherty won't let him. Doherty looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Doherty managing to control the position. Doherty is trying to control the position but Wiltsie postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Doherty has Wiltsie pulled in close to control his posture. Doherty is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Wiltsie misses with an uppercut. Donk. Wiltsie catches Doherty right on the button with a cross. Wiltsie misses with a double jab
and Doherty counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Robert Wiltsie has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Wiltsie is trying to get back to full guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Pete Doherty showed his dominance in that final round. Well Doherty has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
