This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the middleweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 14 wins and 9 losses; Valentin Saric!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Taro Takaoka.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.
Saric stuffs the takedown attempt from Notturna. Notturna gets slowly back to his feet.

Saric is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Saric wants to control but Notturna is keeping him busy.
Notturna's coaches at Oblivion Gate have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.

Notturna controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Saric escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Notturna gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Notturna is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Notturna seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Saric for as long as he can get away with.

Notturna is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Saric is surviving well by controlling Notturna's body position as best he can.

Saric has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Notturna is working away from the top position though.
Saric wants to improve his position but Notturna is controlling well.
Notturna looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Saric has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Notturna. Oh but Saric has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Notturna goes limp - he's gone! Saric jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

After the fight, Valentin Saric was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly. |
