Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Juan Salazar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Boyce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Salazar comes to the cage accompanied by Mama Said Knock you Out. Boyce has chosen Bert & Ernie - Ante Up as his entrance music. Tommy Boyce is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Juan Salazar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tommy Boyce! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Gwen Towbar and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Salazar shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Boyce but Boyce pushes him off and we're back to square one. Boyce catches Salazar with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
It looks like Juan Salazar has been cut. Boyce misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Salazar.
Salazar keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Boyce catches Salazar napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Salazar to the canvas!
Salazar tries to land a sweep but no joy. Boyce must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Salazar is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Salazar is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Boyce stands and throws Salazar's legs to the side, diving into side control. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Boyce grinds an elbow into Salazar's temple. Boyce is looking to take a break and control but Salazar is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Boyce misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Salazar is looking to get back to his feet here but Boyce is keeping cool and he's managed to take Salazar's back. Salazar wants to escape the position.
Boyce scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Salazar rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Boyce works his foot free and advances to mount. Boyce controlling his opponent. Boyce wants to control the pace but Salazar is squirming around nicely.

Salazar is working hard here to advance position. Salazar manages to regain half guard. Good work. Boyce seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Salazar does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Boyce is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Salazar! Salazar is looking to get to half guard. Boyce trying to control but Salazar is having none of it.

Despite being in the dominant position, Tommy Boyce just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Boyce lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Salazar shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Boyce but Boyce pushes him off and we're back to square one. Boyce bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Salazar's head. Tommy Boyce seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Boyce pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Boyce tries for a takedown but Salazar sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Boyce looks to throw the jab but Salazar is out of range.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Boyce tries to clinch but Salazar is having none of it. Boyce jabbing away but nothing is landing. Boyce tries to clinch up but Salazar circles away and keeps his distance. Salazar uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Boyce. Boyce tries to close the distance and clinch up but Salazar swats him away and circles back towards the center. Salazar closes this distance looking for a takedown but Boyce circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Juan Salazar. That's going to take a lot out of him. Boyce misses with an uppercut. Boyce throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Salazar fails with a takedown attempt. Salazar scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Boyce sneaks back into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tommy Boyce dominated that round. The cut man is working on Juan Salazar's cut. That's time! Back to the action!
Boyce throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Nice combo by Boyce! Oh, that's hurt him - Salazar falls to the canvas and Boyce follows him into side control.
Salazar is rocked!
Juan Salazar's cut is getting worse. Boyce lands some shots froms side control. Oh Salazar is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Boyce working the ground and pound. Salazar is trying to get back to half guard. Salazar seems to have got his legs back now. Salazar is not content to let Boyce control the position. Salazar gets back to half guard. Boyce seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Boyce connects with a nice short shot to Salazar's temple. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Salazar is not content to let Boyce control the position. Salazar with the active half guard here but Boyce passes nicely into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Salazar is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Boyce wants to control but Salazar is keeping him busy. Boyce tries to move to mount but Salazar blocks the move with his legs. Boyce trying to control the position but Salazar is working away. Salazar is working to avoid the ground and pound but Boyce connects with a decent elbow. Salazar tries to bench press Boyce off him but Boyce keeps the position. Boyce controlling the position from side mount. Salazar is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Boyce asserts his dominance and retains side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Boyce advances nicely into full mount. Boyce sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Salazar really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Boyce breaks from Salazar's wrist control and lands an elbow. Boyce prevents Salazar from getting the reversal. Boyce trying to control but he's not successful this time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Boyce might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Salazar kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Salazar really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Boyce controlling from mount. Salazar is desperately trying to improve his position but Boyce has a good base and remains in mount. Boyce breaks from Salazar's wrist control and lands an elbow. A nice elbow there by Boyce. Salazar can't escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Boyce landing strikes from the mount and Salazar is in trouble! Boyce prevents Salazar from getting the reversal. Boyce lands a big elbow. Salazar is desperately trying to improve his position but Boyce has a good base and remains in mount. Boyce putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Boyce with good strikes from the mount here! Boyce postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Salazar looks a forlorn figure.
Juan Salazar's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. Boyce is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Jeez, Juan Salazar's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Juan Salazar's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
