PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chief Walker (ranked 2224 p4p, 4842 weight class) and Yoji Anjo Anjo (ranked 294 p4p, 542 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Chief Walker has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Chief Walker seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chief Walker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Yoji Anjo Anjo!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Radbod Blank and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walker takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Walker connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

It looks like Yoji Anjo Anjo has been cut.
Walker checks a leg kick nicely.
A big left from Walker misses.
Walker scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Walker finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Anjo blocks a head kick by Walker.

Anjo gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Anjo has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Walker is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Walker.
Anjo fails to pull guard.
Walker swings away with an uppercut that misses.
A head punch on the inside from Walker fails to land.
Anjo is trying to break the clinch but Walker is controlling him.
Walker managing to block the knees to the body from Anjo.

Anjo breaks the clinch.
Walker shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Anjo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Walker is fending him off so far but Anjo persists. Nope, Walker circles away and we're back to standing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Anjo has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Walker.
Walker throws a series of punches but Anjo avoids them all with ease.
Anjo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Walker swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Walker showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Anjo.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Anjo.
Chief Walker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yoji Anjo Anjo.
Walker connects with a good right hand that stumbles Anjo. Anjo circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Walker feints and then cracks Anjo's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Anjo down.
Walker avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Walker closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Anjo blocking some punches.
Walker lands a right hand.
A head punch on the inside from Walker fails to land.
Walker tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Walker softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Walker lands with a left to the head.
Still in the clinch, Walker scores with a nice short uppercut.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Walker.
Anjo blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Anjo decides to pull guard.
Anjo is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Walker has one foot on Anjo's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Walker throws a leg kick

so Anjo counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Walker is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Anjo presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Walker misses with the head strike.
Anjo is trying to drag Walker to the mat but Walker just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Anjo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Anjo is defended easily by Walker.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Anjo tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Walker swivels and escapes.
Anjo looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Walker connects with a jab.
Nice takedown defense from Walker. No joy for Anjo on that attempt.
Walker feints a jab promting Anjo to slip. Walker then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Anjo slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Walker clinches up against the cage.
Walker misses with a short punch on the inside.
Walker swings wildly with an uppercut but Anjo uses good head movement to avoid it.
Anjo blocking some punches.
Anjo tries for a takedown but Walker manages to get underhooks.
Walker misses with some punches.
Walker keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Anjo's efforts to push away.
Walker misses with a short punch on the inside.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Anjo tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
A nice left hand lands by Walker.
Walker lands a right hand that snaps the head of Anjo backwards.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Walker throws a punch but it's blocked by Anjo.
A short right from Walker on the inside.
A nice right hand lands inside from Walker.
Walker scores with a shot to the side of Anjo's head.

Walker breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
The crowd cheers as Walker lands an impressive looking overhand right. Anjo doesn't seem phased though.
Anjo looks for a takedown but Walker sprawls well.
Walker smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Anjo is rocked!
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Anjo moves out of range of the leg kick from Walker.

Walker closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Anjo pushes Walker off and gets back to his feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Chief Walker dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Yoji Anjo Anjo's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!

BOOM! Walker lands a beautiful left hook that drops Anjo. Anjo tries to recover but Walker is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Anjo lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chief Walker!
An out of breath Chief Walker thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
Yoji Anjo Anjo was interviewed post fight and said 'I feel good! '.
