Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Carlos Rafael! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Loars Seton! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Matheus Silva and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Seton closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Seton lands in his opponent's guard. Rafael keeping moving, preventing Seton from controlling successfully. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Seton tries to free his leg and advance position but Rafael is retaining full guard. Rafael looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Seton throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rafael works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Seton trying to control but Rafael is working from the bottom. Rafael wants to sweep here but Seton controlling him for the moment. Rafael looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Seton won't allow Rafael to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Seton thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Rafael keeping moving, preventing Seton from controlling successfully. Seton wants to pass the guard but Rafael is keeping the position.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Seton dodges the punch combination from Rafael.
Rafael closes the distance and pushes Seton back into the cage. Rafael turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Rafael working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Rafael wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Seton, who protects the arm well. Rafael misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rafael stands up and we're back to a striking position. Seton tries to clinch but Rafael moves away and Rafael counters with a nice double leg into side control. Seton won't be happy with that. Rafael is breathing heavily. Seton gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Seton looking for submissions off his back. Seton is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Rafael pulls his head out easily. Seton is looking for a sweep. Rafael is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Seton is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Rafael pulls his head out easily. Rafael stands up from half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Excellent takedown into side control there by Rafael.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rafael tries for a kimura but Seton is defending well. Rafael working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Seton is looking for a sweep. Rafael works to advance to full mount. Seton defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Seton is looking to get to half guard. Seton defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Rafael. Rafael controlling his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rafael moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Seton has worked his arm free - good work by Seton!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rafael working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. The strikes coming from Rafael are missing the target in this wave of attacks. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Seton is trying to control Rafael's posture but Rafael avoids it. Rafael in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Carlos Rafael dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Seton gets caught flat footed, as Rafael shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Rafael looking to pass the guard. Seton throws his legs up looking for a submission but Rafael uses it to pass to side control.
Seton is trying to control Rafael's posture but Rafael avoids it. Rafael advances to mount. Rafael looking to secure an arm triangle but Seton defends it well. Rafael throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Seton is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Rafael locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Seton is forced to tap!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:02 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Carlos Rafael!
