Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pierre St George (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pierre St George!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Jones!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones tries to clinch there but St George circles away.
Jones fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Jones throws a head kick that misses.
St George tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A nice combination there by St George.


It looks like Chris Jones has been cut.

and Jones counters with a nice double leg into side control. St George won't be happy with that.
Jones is working St George over with some ground and pound from side control.
Check out the look on Jones's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
St George tries to improve position but can't.
Jones wants to control but St George is keeping him busy.
St George regains half guard there - taking advantage of Jones's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
St George lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by St George.

St George throws a sloppy head kick and Jones moves out of range easily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Jones feints and as St George raises his hands in defense, Jones changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Jones looking to sit in guard and control but St George gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

St George controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jones is on top in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

St George is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. St George swivels though and keeps the full guard.
St George is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jones is controlling him.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones trying to control but St George is working from the bottom.
St George is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jones is trying to maintain the position but St George is very close to passing his half guard.
Well, if St George is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Jones pushes St George off but St George dives into side control.
St George connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Jones some visible discomfort.

St George cracks Jones with a big right hand but Jones just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
St George happy to just control the position for now.

A close round but Chris Jones will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

St George forces Jones back against the cage and clinches.

Jones pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Jones lands a jab-cross combination.
St George tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jones paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and St George counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Jones!
St George tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

St George goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Jones is on top in guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
St George is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jones accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
St George is controlling Jones's posture.
St George looking for a sweep. Not yet St George, not yet.
Jones postures up.

Jones drops back, looking for a kneebar! St George looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. St George looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from St George!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jones takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Jones is looking to work his way out of this bad position but St George is controlling him well.

St George moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Jones struggling a bit here.

St George lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
St George lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Jones down.
St George lands a few punches from side control.
Jones is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

St George is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jones knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
St George is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Jones will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Jones decides to take the fight back to the feet.
St George looks to land a combination but Jones avoids it well.
Jones buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
St George on the wrong end of a nice jab.
St George throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

St George darts in and clinches Jones up against the cage.
St George is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Jones tries to break the clinch but St George is controlling the position.

Jones has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. St George is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Jones takes a knee right on the jaw!
St George tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
St George looking to slow down the pace here.
St George gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Jones.

St George is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

St George drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Jones manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now St George has Jones in his guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Jones missing with punches from the bottom.
St George is taking a breather. Jones says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

St George is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Jones wants to get back to full guard.
St George throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
St George drops an elbow to the side of Jones's head.
Jones is looking for a sweep. St George is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Chris Jones comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Jones has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
