The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Pancake bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kid's guard.

Pancake stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kid swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Pancake stands and throws Kid's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Pancake tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Kid is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Kid can't do much from the bottom here.
The referee asks Pancake politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Pancake prefers to stall for the moment though.

Pancake wants to control but Kid is keeping him busy.

Pancake is trying to get an arm triangle but Kid is defending well.
You can see the frustration on Kid's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Kid tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Pancake wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Pancake goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Kid has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Pancake but great work by Kid.

Pancake is trying to escape the position but Kid is controlling the position.

Pancake is not content to let Kid control the position.
You can see the frustration on Pancake's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kid wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Pancake, who protects the arm well.
Kid content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

That's eleven minutes gone in the round.
Pancake is not content to let Kid control the position.
A bit of a lull in the action here.
Pancake gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Pancake is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Kid has latched onto it... Big trouble! Kid pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Pancake is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Kid!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 12:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Disco Kid!
Disco Kid decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
