Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Peter Smart (ranked 1031 p4p, 1096 weight class) and Cayden Abner (ranked 145 p4p, 155 weight class). Abner has chosen Bulls On Parade as his entrance music. Peter Smart could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Cayden Abner's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 18 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Peter Smart! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 19 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cayden Abner! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Ren Mimura and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smart with a nice calf kick. Peter Smart seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Abner will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Smart takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Smart throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Abner on the side of the head. Abner tries to close the distance and clinch but Smart swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Abner lands with a cross. A big right from Smart misses. Abner lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Smart missing with a left hand there. Abner was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Abner tries to clinch up. Abner tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Smart swivels and escapes. Smart misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Smart wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Abner has him pressed against the cage. Abner pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Smart throws a sloppy head kick and Abner decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Smart's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smart can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Abner controls the pace. Abner throwing strikes but missing. Abner would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Abner trying to control the position from guard on top but Smart is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Smart looking for a sweep. Not yet Smart, not yet. Smart trying to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Smart seems keen to control Abner's posture.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Abner blocks a head kick by Smart.
Abner closes the distance and clinches. Abner jumps guard.

Abner wants to sweep but no luck. Abner pushes Smart off and gets back to his feet.
Abner tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Smart paws at him with a jab and circles away. Abner closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Abner breaks from the clinch.

Smart shoots in looking for a takedown but Abner manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Smart's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Smart waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Abner.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Abner misses with a double jab.

Abner shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Smart counters with a one-two to the body. Peter Smart has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cayden Abner. No luck with that takedown attempt from Abner. Smart shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Abner's guard. Abner is looking for a triangle but Smart pushes his legs off easily.
Smart is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Smart landing some decent shots from guard. Smart working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Abner's head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smart postures up and lands a big shot to Abner's brow. This has been an exciting period of action! Smart scoring with punches to the head and body. Abner keeping moving, preventing Smart from controlling successfully. Abner told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. Abner trying to control the position.
Abner working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Smart doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Smart manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Smart is fighting to break Abner's control of his arms but Abner is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Smart looking to control the position here, rather than advance. That was a close round but I would say that Peter Smart will probably get the nod. That's time! Smart's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Smart finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Abner is trying to trip Smart. He has hold of a leg but Smart is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Abner persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Smart trying to control the position.
Smart looking for a sweep. Not yet Smart, not yet. Abner has gone for a leg lock! Smart slips out almost immediately though and dives into Abner's guard.
Smart has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smart in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Smart stopping the sweep attempt from Abner.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smart trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Smart wants to control from the top but Abner keeps moving. Abner tries to land a sweep but no joy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Smart trying to control the position from guard on top but Abner is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Smart missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Abner has control of Smart's left arm, preventing Smart from doing any damage. Smart throws a big right hand that misses. Abner keeping full guard, as Smart tries to pass.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Smart throws a strike but Abner rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Abner sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Smart's guard. Abner moves nicely into side control. Abner moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Cayden Abner has got the better of the ground game so far. Abner wants to control but Smart is keeping him busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smart gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Smart is staying active underneath Abner, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Smart is looking for a sweep. Abner is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Abner thows a huge punch but Smart dodges it nicely.
Abner stands up out of the half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Abner gets tackled into the cage by Smart. Smart maintains the clinch. Smart has a couple of punches blocked by Abner.

Smart misses with a hook to the ribs.
Smart throws a head punch that misses. Abner breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Smart blocks a head kick by Abner.
Abner tries to close the distance and clinch but Smart swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Smart feinted with a counter takedown. Abner has managed to clinch.

Abner is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Smart pulls him back up using the underhooks. Smart stops a takedown attempt from Abner.
Peter Smart has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cayden Abner. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Abner blocks an uppercut.
Abner gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Abner is keen to just control but Smart is a slippery customer. Smart is looking to improve his position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Cayden Abner showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round! Abner uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Smart. Abner tries to clinch but Smart is having none of it. Abner moves out of range of the strikes. Smart throws a combination that misses and Abner counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Smart misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Abner.
Despite the aggression on Abner's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Smart shoots in looking for a takedown. Abner tries to sprawl out of it but Smart keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Abner manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Smart slaps away a takedown attempt from Abner, before circling back to the center of the mat. Abner shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Smart is looking for a sweep. Abner is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Abner is looking for a kimura but Smart is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Abner to get the leverage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Smart trying to control from the bottom.

Abner with a flurry of punches that miss. Abner throws an elbow that misses. Smart uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Abner's guard. Nice move by Smart! Abner is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Smart postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Abner wants to sweep here but Smart controlling him for the moment. Smart postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Smart distracts Abner with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Smart landing some decent shots from guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smart working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Abner's head. Smart lands a couple of digs. Smart wants to control from the top but Abner keeps moving. Smart is working Abner over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Abner looking to control.

Abner looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Smart is defending well. Abner quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Smart has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Abner celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Cayden Abner decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
