PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brenon Conors (ranked 5999 p4p, 23617 weight class) and Albert Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stevens is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Fat Albert. Brenon Conors has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 27 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brenon Conors!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Albert Stevens!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Skip Squint and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Conors shoots in and drives through. Stevens sprawls well.
Conors tries for a takedown but Stevens circles away easily
and Stevens counters with an outside leg kick.

Conors scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Stevens takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Stevens felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Conors working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Conors prevents Stevens from escaping the position.
Conors has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Stevens has one of Conors's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.
Conors lands an elbow.

It looks like Albert Stevens has been cut.
Stevens tries to improve position but can't.
Conors working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Stevens can't do much from the bottom here.

Stevens dodges the ground and pound from Conors.
Stevens is trying to control Conors's posture but Conors avoids it.
Stevens is working to avoid the ground and pound but Conors connects with a decent elbow.

Conors sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Stevens is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Stevens looks like he's trying to stand up.
Stevens makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Stevens.
Conors with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

The cut above Albert Stevens's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Conors throws a strike but Stevens rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Conors wants to stand but Stevens is controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stevens throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Conors works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Conors is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Stevens presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Stevens lands with a left to the head.
Stevens wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Conors has him pressed against the cage.
Stevens avoiding damage.
Stevens pushes Conors back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Stevens breaks from the clinch.
Stevens scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Stevens instigates a clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stevens wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Conors throws a punch but it's blocked by Stevens.

Stevens manages to break the clinch.
Conors with a lazy takedown attempt
and Stevens counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brenon Conors. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Stevens closes the distance and pushes Conors back into the cage.
Stevens is trying to break the clinch but Conors is controlling him.
Stevens lands a left hand.

Stevens manages to pull guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Conors landing with the ground and pound.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Stevens is on top in guard.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

and Stevens holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Stevens breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Stevens scores with a shot to the body.

and Stevens counters with a series of strikes. Conors will be more careful next time no doubt.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brenon Conors. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Stevens lands a big head kick that sends Conors tumbling to the mat! Stevens takes a step backwards and waves Conors back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Conors is rocked!

It looks like Brenon Conors has been cut.
Stevens has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Stevens seems to be stalking Conors here. He circles momentarily and then unleashes a devastating head kick! Conors drops like a stone, out cold! WOW! Are you kidding me!? What a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Albert Stevens!
Albert Stevens was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
