Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Cody Lake (ranked 2161 p4p, 2646 weight class) and Uwot Meight (ranked 301 p4p, 358 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cody Lake!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Uwot Meight!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, William Peck and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lake doesn't manage to clinch there - Meight circles away.
A little jabbing left from Meight on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Meight ducks under a wild hook from Lake.
Lake wants to clinch up but Meight keeps it at a distance.
Lake getting the better of the striking in that exchange.

Lake drives through and clinches with Meight against the cage.
A nice left hand lands by Lake.

Meight escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Meight misses with a right hand

and Lake counters by clinching up.
Meight is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
A short left from Lake.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Meight breaks the clinch.

Lake manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Meight on his heels. He'll look to pass Meight's guard now, I'm sure.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lake seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Lake postures up.
Lake lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Lake's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Lake is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Lake controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Meight can do anything to dispel that myth.

Lake content to stall in guard here.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Lake seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Meight for as long as he can get away with.
Lake cracks Meight with a solid left hand.
Meight really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lake. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Lake passes into half guard under a barage of strikes.
Meight gets full guard.

Lake is stalling in the full guard.
Lake's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Meight trying to keep a closed guard but Lake is proving a slippery customer.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Lake tries for a takedown but Meight circles away easily
and Meight counters with a nice uppercut.
Meight has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Lake uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Meight.
Lake throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Meight's waist but Meight gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lake off to one side.
Meight looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Lake scores with a punch to the head.

Lake takes the fight into the clinch.

Meight breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Lake looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Lake tries for a takedown but Meight sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Lake backing away here, and Meight unleashes a leg kick that just misses.

Meight misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Meight takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Lake doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Meight cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
A nice leg kick lands there from Meight.
Lake takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Lake shoots for a takedown but Meight saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Meight swinging wildly here.
Uwot Meight seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Lake clinches.

Lake lands with a right to the head.

Meight manages to break the clinch.

Lake closes the distance and clinches.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lake tries for a takedown. No joy.

Meight manages to break the clinch.
Meight just misses with a punch to the body.
Lake is looking to counter punch.

Lake gets in close and instigates a clinch.
A short uppercut from Lake.

Meight breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Lake takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Lake takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Meight swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Uwot Meight is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Lake moves to clinch but Meight breaks away
and Meight counters with a nice low kick that buckles Lake's knee momentarily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lake takes one to the chin there.
Lake tries to move into range but Meight moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Meight looks to score with a jab to the body but Lake is just out of range.

Lake gets a clinch.
Lake lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Meight backwards.

Meight breaks the clinch.
Meight takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Lake throws a right hand that misses
and Meight counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Lake tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
A little jabbing left from Meight on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Lake is looking to clinch but Meight is avoiding it.
Lake wants to clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lake moves in looking to clinch but Meight pushes him off.
Meight follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
Meight clobbers Lake with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Meight lands a big uppercut and Lake crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Lake looks OK. Meight waves Lake back to his feet!

Lake is rocked!
Meight ducks under a wild hook from Lake.
Oh Lake is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Lake doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Meight counters with a series of strikes that practically lifts Lake off his feet! He tumbles backwards, his head bouncing off the mat - Meight follows up with more strikes before the ref can step in but Lake was out before he hit the floor.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Uwot Meight!
Cody Lake spoke after the fight, saying 'Sometimes I have a bad night. It happens. I’m always here to impress and i’ll be back very soon.'.
