PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hudson Clarkson (ranked 2076 p4p, 2689 weight class) and Rich Mahogany (ranked 282 p4p, 357 weight class). Mahogany is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Litty. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hudson Clarkson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rich Mahogany!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mahogany scores with a nice right hand.
A jab lands there for Mahogany.
Clarkson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Mahogany digs a good hook to Clarkson's body.
Clarkson shoots in looking for a takedown but Mahogany manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Clarkson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Mahogany keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Clarkson.
A little jabbing left from Mahogany on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Clarkson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hudson Clarkson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Clarkson closes the distance and clinches up with Mahogany, looking for a takedown. Clarkson pushes Mahogany against the cage but Mahogany circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Mahogany throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Clarkson shoots in looking for a takedown. Mahogany tries to sprawl out of it but Clarkson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mahogany manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Clarkson moves out of range as Mahogany throws a body kick.
Clarkson takes one on the chin but seems OK.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Clarkson is defended easily by Mahogany.

It looks like Hudson Clarkson has been cut.

Clarkson drives through with a takedown into Mahogany's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Clarkson is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Mahogany is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Mahogany has escaped and now he's on top!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mahogany might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Clarkson haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Clarkson seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Clarkson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mahogany can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Mahogany is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Clarkson pulls Mahogany in close to his closed guard and prevents Mahogany from doing any damage or advancing position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Clarkson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mahogany doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mahogany manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Rich Mahogany dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Hudson Clarkson's cut.
That's time! Clarkson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Mahogany pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nice takedown defense from Mahogany. No joy for Clarkson on that attempt.
Clarkson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Mahogany to score with a decent uppercut.
Clarkson dives in and grabs Mahogany's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mahogany pushes down on Clarkson's head and hops out.
Clarkson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mahogany as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hudson Clarkson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mahogany catches Clarkson with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Clarkson doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Mahogany counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Mahogany has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Mahogany bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mahogany throws a quick inside leg kick.
Mahogany scores with a decent looking hook.
Clarkson drops his hands momentarily and Mahogany takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Clarkson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
It seemed like Mahogany was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Mahogany throws a good cross that connects.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Mahogany fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Clarkson.

Clarkson is rocked!

Mahogany throws a powerful right kick. Clarkson tried to block low but the kick was high! Clarkson was taken right off of his feet! Mahogany jumps in to finish the job and the ref tackles him! The fight is over!

During a confident post fight interview, Rich Mahogany thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
