Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Khamzat Sonnen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 19 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bon Adrien De Moncey!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Chris Edwards and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sonnen shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches De Moncey napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Sonnen tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sonnen has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Sonnen wants to improve his position but De Moncey is controlling well.

We've been hearing good reports from Sonnen's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Sonnen is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of De Moncey's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take De Moncey's back!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Khamzat Sonnen will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Sonnen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sonnen wants it to stay on the feet.

Sonnen closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. De Moncey quickly recovers to half guard.

Sonnen is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and De Moncey defends it well.
Sonnen is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and De Moncey reverses the position - he's now on top in Sonnen's guard.
Sonnen seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

De Moncey has an Americana. Sonnen didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! De Moncey is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if De Moncey hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

After winning the bout, Bon Adrien De Moncey thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
