Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kealin Bishop! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dre Miller Ii! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, James Ackerman and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bishop rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Miller Ii counters by clinching up. Miller Ii turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Bishop is trying to improve his position. Bishop has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Miller Ii stands up. Kealin Bishop seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Miller Ii clinches up with Bishop and pushes him back against the cage. Miller Ii has clasped his hands together around Bishop's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Bishop is looking for a sweep. Bishop is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Miller Ii off and has taken his back! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Miller Ii is trying to stand back up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bishop throwing sloppy strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Miller Ii is trying to break free.
Miller Ii keeps trying to improve his position. Miller Ii prevents Bishop from getting a body triangle. Bishop controlling well, preventing Miller Ii from escaping the position.
Bishop is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Bishop gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Bishop gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Bishop apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Bishop tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Miller Ii instigates a clinch. Bishop misses with a shot to the kidneys.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bishop is trying to pull guard but Miller Ii turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Bishop misses with some punches.
Miller Ii gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Bishop keeping full guard, as Miller Ii tries to pass. Miller Ii must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Bishop is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Miller Ii frees his head nicely. Oh but Bishop has switched to an armbar! Miller Ii is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
