Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kyo Yamamoto (ranked 4547 p4p, 24562 weight class) and Charlie Simmer (ranked 547 p4p, 634 weight class). Simmer has chosen Lynyrd Skynyrd - Swamp Music as his entrance music. Charlie Simmer is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kyo Yamamoto! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Charlie Simmer! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yamamoto tries to clinch but Simmer moves out of range. Simmer raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick. Yamamoto scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Simmer tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Yamamoto swivels and escapes. Simmer closes the distance and clinches. Simmer tries a knee to the head but Yamamoto blocks it.

Simmer tests Yamamoto's chin there with a solid looking shot. Yamamoto tries to score a power double leg takedown but Simmer sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Yamamoto somewhat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Yamamoto tries to close the distance and clinch but Simmer swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Simmer bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Nice sprawl there from Simmer as Yamamoto shoots in. Simmer throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Simmer pushes Yamamoto up against the cage in a clinch. Simmer digs a right hand into Yamamoto's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Yamamoto's gas tank. Simmer manages to pull guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Yamamoto throws a big elbow that misses. Yamamoto advances position into side control! Yamamoto looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Yamamoto thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Yamamoto throws an elbow but Simmer slips to the side and avoids it well. Yamamoto in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Yamamoto throws a strike aimed at the side of Simmer's head but Simmer avoids it well. Yamamoto taking a break here but Simmer is having none of it and regains half guard. Yamamoto is trying to control the action in half guard but Simmer is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. And that is the end of the round. Simmer preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Yamamoto is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Yamamoto trying to control but Simmer is working from the bottom. Simmer goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Simmer throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Yamamoto on the side of the head. Simmer closes the distance and clinches. Yamamoto gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Simmer closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Simmer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Yamamoto tries to clinch up but Simmer circles away and keeps his distance. Yamamoto tries to clinch but Simmer is having none of it. Yamamoto throws a leg kick but Simmer sees it coming and checks it nicely. Simmer tries to close the distance and clinch up but Yamamoto swats him away and circles back towards the center. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Yamamoto. Simmer misses with a double jab.

Sloppy strikes from Simmer. Those never looked like landing. Charlie Simmer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Simmer closes the distance and pushes Yamamoto back into the cage. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Yamamoto is trying to pull guard but Simmer turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Simmer throws a knee to the head but misses.

Kyo Yamamoto has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Charlie Simmer is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Yamamoto throws a push kick but Simmer slaps the foot to one side.
And that's the end of the fight! Charlie Simmer comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Simmer has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
