Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Islam Aliyev (ranked 2019 p4p, 2578 weight class) and Vinny Dias (ranked 269 p4p, 343 weight class). Aliyev's entrance music is Gandangana. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Islam Aliyev! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vinny Dias! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Wesley Smith and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Aliyev rushes Dias and presses him up against the cage. I was talking to Aliyev's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Dias has Aliyev pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Aliyev manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Dias is looking to take this one to the mat. Aliyev lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
It looks like Vinny Dias has been cut. Aliyev throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Dias drops down looking for an ankle pick but Aliyev pulls his leg out and moves away.
Islam Aliyev has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vinny Dias. No luck for Dias with that takedown attempt. Dias keeps the fight on the outside. Dias ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Aliyev waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Dias. Aliyev throws a hook but Dias blocks it. The fight stays on the outside here - Aliyev looks like he's thinking about clinching though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A lazy left from Aliyev finds it's target. Good shot there by Aliyev. Dias fails with the takedown. Aliyev looks to land a right hand but Dias moved out of range. Dias feints the counter takedown. Aliyev throws a hook but Dias blocks it.
That's one minute gone in the round. No luck for Dias with that takedown attempt. Aliyev throwing a counter right hand but Dias manages to avoid it. Dias fails to land the takedown. Dias feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Aliyev wants to stand and escape but Dias is having none of it. Dias is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Dias trying to control the position from guard on top but Aliyev is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Aliyev wants to stand up but Dias is controlling him. Dias trying to control but Aliyev is working from the bottom. Dias might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Aliyev haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Aliyev is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup. Dias trying to control but Aliyev is working from the bottom.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Aliyev slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Dias ducks under a wild hook from Aliyev. Aliyev rushes Dias and presses him up against the cage. Aliyev with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Aliyev lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Aliyev misses with an elbow strike.
Dias jumps guard but Aliyev turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Aliyev pushes off an throws an elbow but Dias leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Aliyev gets underhooks to prevent Dias's takedown attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dias tries to pull guard but Aliyev won't allow it.

Aliyev throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Dias is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Aliyev is aware though and is defending well. Dias is trying to control the position but Aliyev postures up. Aliyev throws an elbow that misses. Dias uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Aliyev's guard. Nice move by Dias! Dias stops Aliyev from standing up. Dias trying to control but Aliyev is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dias throwing strikes from guard but Aliyev blocks nicely. Dias is standing up over Aliyev. Aliyev looks to escape but Dias dives into side control.
Dias is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Aliyev looks calm but he's in trouble here. Dias gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Aliyev is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Dias lets go of the hold and Aliyev can pop his arm back in it's socket.
