These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter throws a jab but it's blocked by Fonda.
Fonda scores with a nice head shot.
A slow jab from Fonda misses its intended target.
Fonda cracks a nice hook into Carter's ribs.
Fonda lands with a shot to the body.
Fonda avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Carter ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Fonda swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Fonda slips under a jab from Carter.
Carter avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Fonda's corner calls for a 1-2. Fonda obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
The fight stays on the outside here - Carter looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Fonda bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Carter's head backwards.

Carter moves into the clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Carter scores with a shoulder strike.

Carter blocks a body shot from Fonda.
Fonda misses with a hook to the ribs.
Carter gets through Fonda's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
I was talking to Carter's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Carter lands a left hand that snaps the head of Fonda backwards.
Fonda tries to throw a body punch but Carter avoids it by throwing Fonda back against the cage.
Carter is working Fonda over against the cage.
Fonda looks winded!
Carter misses with a hook to the ribs.
Carter creates some distance for himself and unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Fonda's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Fonda drops to his knees and Carter pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
