Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Don Cortez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brock Harrisburg!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Sam Margolis and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harrisburg walks into a jab.
Cortez scores with a punch to the head.
Nice straight punches there by Harrisburg. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Harrisburg.
Harrisburg misses with a combination
and Cortez makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Nice uppercut lands for Harrisburg. That snapped Cortez's head back.
Cortez misses with a straight left.
Cortez keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Harrisburg.
Cortez half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Cortez takes a swing at Harrisburg's ribcage but misses.

Cortez takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Cortez has been working on his boxing with his coaches at kill or be killed F boring Fights in the buildup to the fight.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Harrisburg misses with a hook.
Harrisburg is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Cortez.
Cortez connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Harrisburg swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Cortez tries to bum rush Harrisburg with a series of wild strikes but Harrisburg uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Brock Harrisburg seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Cortez counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Cortez ducks right into an uppercut from Harrisburg.
Harrisburg might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Harrisburg takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

and Harrisburg counters with a nice uppercut.
We've been informed that Harrisburg has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Cortez dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Cortez looks to score with a jab to the body but Harrisburg is just out of range.
Harrisburg throws a combination that misses

and Cortez counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Cortez takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Cortez lands a nice short elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Harrisburg is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Cortez scores with a couple of nice shots.

Cortez prevents Harrisburg from standing back up.
Cortez slips a nice elbow through Harrisburg's hands, connecting with Harrisburg's forehead.
Cortez is taking a breather. Harrisburg says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Harrisburg can do anything to dispel that myth.
Cortez is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Cortez trying to control but Harrisburg is having none of it.

Cortez lands a couple of good shots and Harrisburg has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Harrisburg is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Cortez is landing with strikes. Harrisburg can't take much more of this.

Cortez has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

Cortez working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Harrisburg is doing well to defend. Cortez seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Harrisburg is forced to tap and this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Don Cortez!
A very excited looking Don Cortez rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
