And in the blue corner, fighting out of Helsinki, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 3 losses; Tadahiro Nomura! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Brown shoots in and bounces Nomura off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Brown (2) vs (0) Nomura Nomura not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Brown is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Brown has gone for a leg lock! Nomura slips out almost immediately though and dives into Brown's guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Brown (2) vs (2) Nomura Nomura wants to pass the guard but Brown is keeping the position. Brown can't keep his opponent in guard - Nomura advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Brown looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nomura is keen to just control but Brown is a slippery customer. Nomura is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Brown has managed to free his arm - good work. Brown is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Nomura pulls his head out easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nomura is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Brown doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Nomura. Brown is not content to let Nomura control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Brown is trying to maintain the position but Nomura is very close to passing his half guard. Brown gets full guard. Brown controls Nomura momentarily but Nomura frees himself. Brown has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Nomura should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Brown has tightened it up now! Nomura should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jax Brown! After the fight, Jax Brown was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly. |
