This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 2 losses; Stephan Letter! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 5 wins and 1 losses; Abu Schaubi! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Percy O'Donnell and Frank Antenori.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Schaubi tries to clinch there but Letter circles away.
Schaubi is looking to clinch. Schaubi gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Letter (2) vs (0) Schaubi Schaubi is trying to keep Letter in close.
Letter won't allow Schaubi to sweep him here. Schaubi has his foot on Letter's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Letter works his way back into a safe position though. Schaubi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Letter doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Letter manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Schaubi working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Letter has passed into half guard!

That's two minutes gone in the round. Schaubi is pressing down on Letter's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Letter has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Letter looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Schaubi is working the butterfly guard. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Schaubi is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Letter defends well. Schaubi has his foot on Letter's thigh. Schaubi is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Schaubi is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Letter is aware though and is defending well. Schaubi looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Schaubi is looking for a triangle here but Letter uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

That's five minutes gone in the round. Letter trying to control the pace. Schaubi is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Letter's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Letter's back! Score +4 for clean sweep to past guard: Letter (7) vs (6) Schaubi Schaubi working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. Letter is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Schaubi gets his way!

He's controlling one of Schaubi's hands and whilst he does that, he's got a chance of escaping the position. Schaubi looking to break Letter's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Letter remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Schaubi will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Schaubi tries to keep control of the position but Letter is staying busy. Schaubi looking for the RNC. Schaubi tries to get the hooks in deep but Letter pushed the leg off. Letter is holding onto Schaubi's left hand, preventing any choke attempts. Letter wants to control his opponent's hands but Schaubi gets his hands free. Schaubi is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Letter is defending well though. Schaubi let's go of the attempt for now. Letter wants to escape the position.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Schaubi is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Letter defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Letter rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

That's nine minutes gone in the round. Schaubi wants to pass the guard but Letter is defending well. Letter actively working from the bottom here. Letter tries to roll over but Schaubi keeps him under control.
That's ten minutes gone in the round. Schaubi wants to lay and pray for a moment but Letter keeps working. Schaubi is pressing down on Letter's thigh, looking to free his foot. Letter is holding on for now. Schaubi trying to control the action but Letter is working from the bottom. Schaubi frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Schaubi tries to take Letter's back but instead Letter uses the opportunity to regain half guard. Letter knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Schaubi on the ground. Schaubi is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Letter won't allow Schaubi to pass to mount. Schaubi is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Letter! Score +3 for passing guard: Letter (7) vs (12) Schaubi Schaubi has hold of Letter's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Letter manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Schaubi is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Letter has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Letter! Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Letter (9) vs (12) Schaubi Schaubi can't keep his opponent in guard - Letter advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Schaubi has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Letter is working away from the top position though. Schaubi wants to get back to full guard.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Schaubi is looking to control Letter's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Schaubi avoid being mounted? Schaubi has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Schaubi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Schaubi trying to control here.
