The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.

Carlier is trying to escape the position but Gerbandi is controlling the position.

Gerbandi thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Carlier tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gerbandi wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Gerbandi is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Carlier has escaped the position, nice work there.

Let's hope that Gerbandi has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Gerbandi is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Carlier knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Gerbandi wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Carlier, who protects the arm well.

Gerbandi is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Carlier is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Gerbandi has hold of Carlier's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Carlier tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Gerbandi cranks the arm and Carlier screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Carlier, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
