This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Brad Hartwell! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Nikos Balopoulos! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Percy O'Donnell and Timothy Bukovac.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Balopoulos darts in and clinches Hartwell up against the cage. Balopoulos is pressed up against the cage. Hartwell has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Balopoulos down to the mat. Balopoulos avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Hartwell gets a clinch. Hartwell turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Hartwell manages to end up in side control. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Hartwell (4) vs (0) Balopoulos The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Balopoulos wants to control but Hartwell postures up. Hartwell tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hartwell has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Hartwell working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Balopoulos keeps Hartwell under control for a moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Balopoulos is trying to control Hartwell's posture but Hartwell avoids it. Balopoulos regains half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Balopoulos looking for submissions off his back. Hartwell is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Hartwell seems to be working for a kimura but Balopoulos defends the submission attempt. Hartwell wants to pass the guard but Balopoulos is defending well. Balopoulos is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hartwell pulls his head out easily. Balopoulos is looking for a sweep. Hartwell is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

We've been informed that Balopoulos has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Hartwell is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Balopoulos is just riding it out for now. Hartwell eventually gives up the hold. Hartwell has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Balopoulos defend it? Hartwell steps over the head and cranks it - Balopoulos is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Hartwell!
