Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Malik Hooker (ranked 4759 p4p, 22607 weight class) and Sky Genie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Malik Hooker has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Malik Hooker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sky Genie!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Jeff Smith and Chris Saunders.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Genie wants to clinch but Hooker slips to the side

and Hooker counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Genie trying to strike off his back.
Genie is striking from the bottom but Hooker uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
Hooker wants to lay and pray for a moment but Genie keeps working.
Genie won't allow Hooker to pass to mount.
Hooker working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Hooker wants to take a breather but Genie is having none of it.
Genie landing rabbit punches to the side of Hooker's head. Not doing much damage but still scoring a few points.
Genie tries to get to full guard but Hooker has control of the leg.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Hooker lands a nice short elbow.

Hooker is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Genie wants to improve his position but Hooker is controlling well.
Hooker scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Genie throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Genie is looking to improve his position.

Genie tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Hooker looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Hooker is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Hooker takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Hooker working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Hooker winds up and cracks Genie with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Genie is looking for a sweep. Hooker is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Hooker passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Genie!
Hooker lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Genie is rocked!

It looks like Sky Genie has been cut.

Hooker takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Genie is still in real trouble! Can Hooker finish him?

Hooker has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Genie's face.
Hooker has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Genie is looking to get to half guard.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Hooker lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A big strike lands for Hooker! That's really hurt Genie and he's turned his back - Hooker keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Hooker jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
