Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gerhard Franke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andrew West!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Jonathan Paton and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Franke lands an overhand right.
Franke avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A punch combination from Franke misses.
West fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Franke tries to keep at a distance but West has taken the fight into the clinch.

West jumps guard and drags Franke to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
West is trying to keep Franke in close.
Franke pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. West is keeping the position for now.
Franke not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Franke keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of West's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Franke wants to control from the top but West keeps moving.
West looking to control.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Franke is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
West can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Franke controls the pace.
Franke is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

West working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Franke has passed into half guard!

Franke is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so West is just riding it out for now. Franke eventually gives up the hold.
West won't allow Franke to pass to mount.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Franke is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, West has managed to free his arm - good work.

Franke is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Franke is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but West is surviving well by controlling Franke's body position as best he can.

West is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
West has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Franke is working away from the top position though.
Franke working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Franke is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and West defends it well.
West trying to control from the bottom.
Franke wants to free his trapped foot but West is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Franke takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Franke is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Franke is looking for a kimura here.

Franke wants to work for an arm triangle but West is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gerhard Franke dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


West checks a low kick from Franke.
West circles away from the clinch attempt.
West throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Franke's waist but Franke gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing West off to one side.
Franke looks to score with a jab to the body but West is just out of range.
Franke lands an overhand right.
Gerhard Franke is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Franke scores with a sloppy right hand. West should have avoided that one.
West is trying hard to land a takedown here. Franke sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Franke works West's body with a nice hook.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Franke.

Franke tries for a kimura but West is defending well.
Franke scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at West to see if he's OK.

West is breathing heavily.
Franke controls the position.

Franke looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Franke is putting a hurting on West here, landing some big shots from side control.
Franke is looking to take a break and control but West is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
West is trying to get back to half guard.

Franke has worked his way into a potential kimura here. West is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Franke yanks on the arm and West is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Franke.
