Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between James Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pepe Mendoza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scott's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Massive Attack - One thought at a time. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 1, fighting out of New York, James Scott! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pepe Mendoza! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Jorge Garcia and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Scott throws a lazy right hand but Mendoza sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Mendoza swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Pepe Mendoza seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mendoza uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Scott. Mendoza slips under a jab from Scott. Mendoza misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Scott.
Scott checks a low kick from Mendoza. Scott moves into range and connects with a jab. Mendoza walks into a left hand. Mendoza bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Mendoza closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Mendoza wants to lay and pray for a moment but Scott keeps working. Mendoza is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Scott sees it coming and defends easily. Scott tries to roll over but Mendoza keeps him under control. Mendoza is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's one minute gone in the round. Mendoza is looking for a kimura but Scott is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mendoza to get the leverage. Scott makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Scott. Mendoza drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Scott manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Mendoza has Scott in his guard. Mendoza looks gassed! Scott trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Scott is working hard here to advance position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Scott slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Mendoza tries to improve position but can't. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Mendoza is not content to let Scott control the position. Mendoza manages to work his way to half guard, despite Scott's best efforts. Scott seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mendoza does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Mendoza is pressing down on Scott's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mendoza is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Scott is aware though and is defending well. Scott wants to pass the guard but Mendoza is keeping the position. Scott avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Scott drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Mendoza dives on top into guard. Scott manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Mendoza is squirming around, avoiding Scott's attempts to control the action.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Scott is really struggling to control Mendoza but he's trying to hold on to the position. Mendoza is looking to get to half guard. Mendoza is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Scott has taken his back.
Mendoza wants to control his opponent's hands but Scott gets his hands free. Scott is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
James Scott dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Scott shoots in looking for a takedown. Mendoza tries to sprawl out of it but Scott keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mendoza manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Scott throws out a loose jab but Mendoza uses good head movement to avoid it. Scott throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Scott shoots in but doesn't get the takedown so Mendoza counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Mendoza drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Scott dives on top into guard. Mendoza had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Scott is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Mendoza Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Scott's back instead. Mendoza tightening his grip on Scott, looking for the choke.
That's one minute gone in the round. Scott manages to reverse the position and now he's in Mendoza's guard. Nice work there by Scott.
Mendoza is breathing heavily. Scott tries to free his leg and advance position but Mendoza is retaining full guard. Mendoza has an active guard here but Scott has managed to pass into half guard.
Scott is keen to just control but Mendoza is a slippery customer. Mendoza wants to get back to full guard but Scott has mounted him!
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Mendoza is squirming around, avoiding Scott's attempts to control the action. Mendoza should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Scott with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
Mendoza tries to strike from the bottom but he's left himself exposed and Scott has taken his back. Mendoza manages to reverse the position and now he's in Scott's guard. Nice work there by Mendoza.
Mendoza stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Scott swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mendoza has gone for a leg lock! Scott slips out almost immediately though and dives into Mendoza's guard. Scott slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Scott thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Scott works to advance to full mount. Mendoza defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Scott trying to control but he's not successful this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mendoza is working to get back to half guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Pepe Mendoza will probably get the nod - 10:9. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!
Mendoza shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Scott is trying to defend but Mendoza finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Mendoza is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Scott moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mendoza pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Scott is keeping the position for now. Scott tries to land a sweep but no joy. Mendoza takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Mendoza drives through with a takedown into guard. Mendoza wants to control from the top but Scott keeps moving. Mendoza is pushing down on Scott's leg trying to pass to half guard. Scott is fighting to maintain full guard but Mendoza has managed to sneak the leg through.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. You can see the frustration on Mendoza's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Pepe Mendoza. I think Mendoza has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
