PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dawindi Buktot (ranked 24775 p4p, 24675 weight class) and Kulata Bitok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dawindi Buktot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kulata Bitok!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Bitok on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Bitok tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Buktot defends well and Bitok ends up having to push Buktot into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

and Bitok decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Buktot's guard.

Buktot manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Buktot jumps guard and drags Bitok to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Bitok is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Let's hope that Bitok has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bitok's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Buktot is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Buktot takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

Buktot closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Buktot lands in his opponent's guard.
Bitok keeping moving, preventing Buktot from controlling successfully.

Buktot is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Bitok looking for a guillotine here but Buktot defends easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That was a close round but I would say that Dawindi Buktot will probably get the nod.

Bitok changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Buktot tries to avoid it but Bitok manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Buktot to the ground. Buktot escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bitok seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Buktot shoots for a takedown but Bitok saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Buktot can't do much from the bottom here.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Kulata Bitok showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Bitok shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Buktot as he avoids it easily.

Buktot quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Buktot shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Bitok defends it nicely.
Bitok tries a quick counter leg kick but Buktot is wise to it.
Buktot shoots in looking for a takedown. Bitok tries to sprawl out of it but Buktot keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bitok manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Bitok unleashes a big counter combination but Buktot bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Bitok throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Buktot tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Bitok is in Buktot's guard.
Buktot is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Bitok is stalling in the full guard.
Buktot pulls Bitok in close to prevent any damage.

I would just about give that final round to Kulata Bitok.
I think Bitok has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
