Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jason Johnson (ranked 1543 p4p, 2039 weight class) and Blanco Feretti (ranked 216 p4p, 269 weight class). Feretti is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Paky - rozzi. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Blanco Feretti was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jason Johnson! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Blanco Feretti! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Lou da Vinci and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Feretti tries to clinch but Johnson is having none of it. Johnson thuds his right hand into Feretti's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. A cross from Johnson lands. Feretti clinches with his opponent.
Feretti is trying to pull guard but Johnson has him pressed against the cage. Feretti decides to pull guard. Johnson wants to stand and escape but instead Feretti has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Johnson being controlled here, momentarily. Johnson is looking to stand up but Feretti isn't so interested in that idea. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Johnson keeping full guard, as Feretti tries to pass. Johnson kicks Feretti off and gets to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Feretti ducks under a wild hook from Johnson. Feretti tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Johnson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Feretti fails in his attempt to clinch. Johnson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Feretti closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Feretti tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Johnson smiles and moves away.
Johnson paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Johnson lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. The fight stays on the outside here - Feretti looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Feretti tries to clinch up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson gets tackled into the cage by Feretti. Feretti maintains the clinch. Feretti tries to pull guard but Johnson forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Jason Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Blanco Feretti. Feretti is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Johnson to keep the fight standing. Johnson breaks from the clinch.
Feretti gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Feretti tries to pull guard but Johnson forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Johnson manages to break the clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Johnson drops Feretti with a beautiful combination! Feretti stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Johnson is looking for the KO!
Feretti is rocked!
It looks like Blanco Feretti has been cut. Feretti leaves his chin hanging out and Johnson seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Feretti crumbles to the floor in a heap! The referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jason Johnson! Jason Johnson retains his welterweight title! Jason Johnson bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
