Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tony Spade (ranked 2060 p4p, 2149 weight class) and Alvin Leung (ranked 225 p4p, 231 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Spade might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to A Better View . Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tony Spade! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alvin Leung! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Alyssa Summers and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Leung misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Spade definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Spade throws a hook to the side of Leung's head but Leung sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Leung bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Alvin Leung seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Leung slips a jab from Spade. Leung shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Spade defends it nicely. Spade throwing a counter right hand but Leung manages to avoid it. Spade gets caught napping as Leung dives in and scores a takedown. Spade manages to retain guard. Leung is working Spade over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Spade knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Leung on the ground. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Leung trying to control but Spade is working from the bottom. Spade keeping full guard, as Leung tries to pass.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spade is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Leung throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Spade works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Spade controlling Leung's posture. Leung trying to control but Spade is working from the bottom. Spade trying to keep a closed guard but Leung is proving a slippery customer.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Leung has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Leung postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Leung with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Leung is looking to work some ground and pound but Spade has wrist control. Leung works over Spade with some ground and pound from guard. Spade keeping full guard, as Leung tries to pass. Spade is trying to control the position but Leung postures up. Leung distracts Spade with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Leung scoring with some ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Spade has control of Leung's left arm, preventing Leung from doing any damage. Leung scoring with some ground and pound. Leung controls the pace of the fight for a moment. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Leung accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Spade is trying to control the position but Leung postures up. Leung's corner is telling him to maintain position. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Leung throws a big elbow that misses. Leung trying to control but Spade is working from the bottom. Spade throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Leung shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Spade pinned against the cage. Spade gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. An attempted straight right counter from Spade misses the target. Tony Spade has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alvin Leung. A lazy left from Spade finds it's target. Spade connects with a good right hand that stumbles Leung. Leung circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Spade lands a head shot.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Spade is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Spade throws a big shot that misses. Leung wants to clinch up but Spade keeps it at a distance. Leung shoots in and bounces Spade off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Leung prevents Spade from getting back to his feet. Leung stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Spade swivels though and keeps the full guard. Leung looking to control the position here, rather than advance. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Leung's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Alvin Leung will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Spade lands with a nice body punch. Spade scores with a jab to the head.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Leung. Leung closes this distance looking for a takedown but Spade circles away. Leung ducks right into an uppercut from Spade. Spade gets caught flat footed, as Leung shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Spade pulls Leung in close to his closed guard and prevents Leung from doing any damage or advancing position. Spade has momentary wrist control but Leung slips an elbow through the middle. Spade is trying to keep Leung in close.
Spade throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
We've been informed that Leung has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
That's one minute gone in the round. Leung works a leg free and moves into half guard. Spade avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Leung. Spade keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Spade is looking to control Leung's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Spade avoid being mounted? Leung seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Leung is looking to take a break and control but Spade is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Leung sitting and controlling from the half guard. Spade on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Leung content to control rather than advance. Leung is trying to control. Spade wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Leung with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Leung sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Spade defending well though. Leung is working for a kimura but Spade is defending it quite comfortably.
Leung thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Spade's head. Leung works his foot free and advances to mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Leung has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Spade's face.

Leung postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Spade looks a forlorn figure.
Spade is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Leung lands a big elbow. Spade keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Leung lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Leung lands a heavy elbow. Leung controlling the pace for now. Leung has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Leung has hold of Spade's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Spade manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Leung is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Spade has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Leung controlling the pace for now. Leung fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Alvin Leung showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round! Spade stuffs the takedown attempt from Leung. Leung gets slowly back to his feet. Leung dives in and grabs Spade's left leg, looking for a takedown. Spade pushes down on Leung's head and hops out. Leung misses with a takedown and Leung takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Tony Spade has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alvin Leung. Leung shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Spade scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Leung shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Leung showed some decent athleticism there. Leung throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Spade wants to sweep but Leung has passed to side control! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Leung is trying to ground and pound but Spade uses the momentary lack of control by Leung to regain half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Leung slows the pace down in half guard. Spade trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Spade tries to lock up and control but Leung gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Leung wants to control the pace but Spade is squirming around nicely. Spade is bucking up trying to escape but Leung cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Leung working Spade over with strikes here. Leung sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Leung lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Spade hang on? Leung lands a nice shot to the head. Leung is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Spade to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Spade shrugs it off. Leung sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Leung swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Spade is now in Leung's guard. A big mistake from Leung there, giving up the dominant position!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Spade is looking to work some ground and pound but Leung has wrist control. Leung keeping moving, preventing Spade from controlling successfully. Leung has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Spade is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Leung. Alvin Leung is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Leung struggling a bit here. Spade is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Leung's shoulder. That is not cool. Leung is looking for a sweep.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Spade tries to stand but Leung is controlling his head. Spade wants to lay and pray for a moment but Leung keeps working. Leung tries to improve position but can't. Tony Spade has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! An elbow from Spade crashes against the mat.
Spade trying to control the position but Leung is working away. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Leung is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Spade wants to control but Leung is keeping him busy.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tony Spade. I think Leung has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
