Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jack Messervey (ranked 3970 p4p, 3412 weight class) and Joey Williams (ranked 494 p4p, 440 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jack Messervey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joey Williams! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Anthony Taglia and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Messervey stuffs the takedown. Williams manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Messervey on his heels. He'll look to pass Messervey's guard now, I'm sure. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Messervey wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Messervey looking for a sweep. Not yet Messervey, not yet. Williams passes Messervey's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Ground and pound from Williams. Messervey has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Williams is working away from the top position though. Messervey might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Messervey is looking for a sweep. Williams is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Still in half guard, Williams seems content to control. Williams wants to work for an arm triangle but Messervey is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round. Williams frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Williams takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Williams looking to finish Messervey with some ground and pound. This is bad for Messervey! Williams raining down hammerfists from mount. Messervey tries to hold on but Williams postures up. Williams looking to control and managing it successfully. Williams looking to control but Messervey is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. You get the feeling that Messervey really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Williams working away from the top, dropping strikes. Williams content just to control the position here. Messervey is in a horrible position here. Williams smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Williams cracks Messervey with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Williams is landing with some decent strikes but Messervey is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Williams tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Williams cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Messervey is rocked! Williams lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Oh Messervey is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Messervey takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Williams's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joey Williams! A very excited looking Joey Williams made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction. Jack Messervey spoke after the fight, saying 'That's not Bussin'.
