PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bulla Marden (ranked 2266 p4p, 1897 weight class) and KO Jacckson (ranked 307 p4p, 254 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bulla Marden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, KO Jacckson!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jacckson scores with a shot to the body.
Jacckson connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Marden looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Jacckson is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Marden shoots in and drives through. Jacckson sprawls well.
Jacckson was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Marden changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jacckson tries to avoid it but Marden manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jacckson to the ground. Jacckson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bulla Marden. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jacckson throws a hook to the side of Marden's head but Marden sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Marden drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Marden jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Marden is looking to take a break and control but Jacckson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Marden is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jacckson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Marden.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Jacckson is refusing to be controlled, as Marden sits in half guard.

Marden is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Marden thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Jacckson is trying to control Marden's posture but Marden avoids it.

Marden is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jacckson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Marden tries to counter with a takedown but Jacckson is quick to defend against it.
Marden is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jacckson can do to turn this around?

Marden takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

A nice side step and Jacckson releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Jacckson wants to counter the offense by Marden and move into the clinch position.
Marden bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Marden is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

KO Jacckson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Marden's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!

Marden shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Jacckson sprawls well. Jacckson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Marden gets slowly back to his feet.

Jacckson is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Marden has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Jacckson's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Jacckson can't escape the position.
Marden fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Marden can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jacckson is looking to escape.
Marden pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Jacckson is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Marden off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Jacckson is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Marden gets his way!
