Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Frederick Payette (ranked 2623 p4p, 2446 weight class) and Excalam Black (ranked 358 p4p, 338 weight class). Black is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Signe de contradiction. The key to victory for Frederick Payette has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Payette scores with a jab to the body.
Payette sizes up Black with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

It looks like Excalam Black has been cut.
We've been told by Payette's head coaches at Brooklyn Mixed Martial Arts that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Black moves into the clinch.

Black struggles to land a body shot inside as Payette controls his hands.

Black manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Black tries to work over Payette's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Black is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Payette gets underhooks to prevent Black's takedown attempt.
Payette tries to break the clinch but Black is controlling the position.

Black ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Black no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Payette tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Black.

Black is looking for a sweep. Payette is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Black moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Black looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Payette has picked Black up and slammed him! Black can't keep hold of the triangle and Payette manages to pass to side control!

That was a close round but I would say that Frederick Payette will probably get the nod.

Black thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Payette's head.
Black trying to mount his opponent but Payette defends it.

Payette is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Black has latched onto it... Big trouble! Black pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Payette is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Black!
