Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Rusev (ranked 949 p4p, 1278 weight class) and Vadius Highwind (ranked 146 p4p, 188 weight class). Vadius Highwind is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alexander Rusev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vadius Highwind!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Glass and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rusev fails with a takedown attempt.

Rusev fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Highwind sprawls well initially but Rusev persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Rusev working over Highwind with some ground and pound. Highwind looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Highwind is looking to improve his position.
Highwind is still trying to improve position.
Rusev missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Rusev throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rusev drops an elbow to the side of Highwind's head.
Highwind is trying to get back to full guard.

Rusev is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Highwind has managed to free his arm - good work.
Highwind is trying to control but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rusev lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Highwind blocking the ground and pound attempt from Rusev.

Rusev is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Highwind sees it coming and defends easily.
Highwind wants to get back to full guard.
Rusev trying to control the action but Highwind is working from the bottom.
Rusev has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Rusev prevents Highwind from improving his position.
Highwind has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rusev is working away from the top position though.
Highwind gets full guard.

Rusev wants to control from the top but Highwind keeps moving.
Highwind is trying to control the position but Rusev postures up.
Rusev throws a big elbow that misses.
Rusev passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Rusev tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
The strikes coming from Rusev are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Rusev wants to control for a moment but Highwind uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Rusev is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Highwind doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rusev.

Rusev is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Highwind as he works his way to full guard.

Highwind looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Highwind trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Rusev throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Highwind works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Highwind trying to keep a closed guard but Rusev is proving a slippery customer.
Rusev wants to pass the guard but Highwind is keeping the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Highwind wants to get back to his feet but Rusev is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Rusev throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
We've been hearing that Rusev has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Rusev is stalling in the full guard.
Highwind trying to keep a closed guard but Rusev is proving a slippery customer.
Highwind avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Highwind is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Rusev dives in and grabs Highwind's left leg, looking for a takedown. Highwind pushes down on Rusev's head and hops out.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Alexander Rusev dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Highwind jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Highwind displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rusev.
Highwind lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Rusev looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Highwind is fending him off so far but Rusev persists. Nope, Highwind circles away and we're back to standing.

It looks like Alexander Rusev has been cut.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alexander Rusev. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rusev shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Highwind defends it nicely.
Highwind swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Rusev looks for a takedown but Highwind sprawls well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Highwind jabs Rusev right on the nose. Rusev blinks but takes it well.
Alexander Rusev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rusev throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Highwind's waist but Highwind gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rusev off to one side.
Rusev shoots in for a double leg but Highwind sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Highwind misses with a few strikes there.
No luck for Rusev with that takedown attempt.

and Highwind counters with a nice right hand that sends Rusev toppling to the canvas! Rusev scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Highwind finish him?!

Rusev is rocked!
Highwind lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Rusev up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Highwind from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Rusev's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Vadius Highwind!
