Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chad Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Iurie Shchusev!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Russell Pearce and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shchusev misses the shot to the body.
Smith does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Shchusev throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
A little feinted left hand from Smith on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Smith misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Smith throws a head kick that misses.
Shchusev rushes Smith and presses him up against the cage.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Smith takes a shot to the head.
Shchusev pushes Smith back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shchusev avoids a wild elbow strike from Smith.
Shchusev lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Shchusev gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Shchusev scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Shchusev lands a big elbow - Smith is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Shchusev!
