Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Murilo Ninja (ranked 1122 p4p, 1025 weight class) and Bobby Drake (ranked 170 p4p, 151 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Murilo Ninja!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bobby Drake!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Paul Aken and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drake throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Drake lands with a good body shot.

Ninja has Drake up against the cage in a clinch.
Drake lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Ninja tries for a takedown but Drake manages to get underhooks.
We've been hearing reports that Ninja has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Ninja keeps control of Drake as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Drake prevents a body shot from Ninja.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Drake breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Drake just misses with a punch to the body.
Drake getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Murilo Ninja seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ninja has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Drake after a bit of a struggle.
Drake blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

A nice right hand lands inside from Drake.

A head punch on the inside from Drake fails to land.
Come on Ninja - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Drake lands a left hand.
Ninja misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Ninja misses with the head strike.
Ninja misses with some punches.
Ninja is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Drake gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Murilo Ninja. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ninja is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Drake pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Drake breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ninja ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Drake moves away.
Drake lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Ninja feints and as Drake raises his hands in defense, Ninja changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Ninja throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Drake works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Ninja trying to control the position from guard on top but Drake is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Drake is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Ninja wants to control from the top but Drake keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ninja missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Ninja looking to sit in guard and control but Drake gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Drake must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Drake is working Ninja over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Drake missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Ninja might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Drake avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Drake trying to control but Ninja is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Drake with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Drake is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Drake won't allow Ninja to sweep him here.

Ninja is looking to stand up but Drake isn't so interested in that idea.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Ninja is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Drake is controlling him.
Ninja can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Drake controls the pace.
Drake lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Bobby Drake dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Ninja takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Ninja clinches.
A short body shot lands from Ninja as the two fighters clinch.
Ninja has a couple of punches blocked by Drake.
A nice right hand lands inside from Drake.
Ninja misses with a punch to the body.
Drake is trying to break the clinch but Ninja is controlling him.
Ninja lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Drake has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Drake breaks the clinch.
Drake misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Ninja.
Ninja tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Drake connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ninja will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Drake throws a body shot but no joy.
Ninja connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

It looks like Bobby Drake has been cut.
Ninja keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Ninja shoots and misses
and Drake counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

A big left from Drake misses.
A left lands for Ninja.
Drake keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Ninja shoots in looking for a takedown. Drake tries to sprawl out of it but Ninja keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Drake manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Drake jabs Ninja to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Ninja dives in for a single leg takedown but Drake sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Drake misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Drake cracks a nice hook into Ninja's ribs.
Ninja tries to clinch but Drake moves out of range.
Drake digs a good hook to Ninja's body.
The fighters circling - Ninja throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Drake fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Ninja misses with a takedown attempt
and Drake counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
