Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kamaru Usman (ranked 4141 p4p, 3152 weight class) and Mauricio Raujon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mauricio Raujon looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kamaru Usman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mauricio Raujon!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Ron Honeybunn and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Usman shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Raujon's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Usman is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Usman gets to his feet. Raujon looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Kamaru Usman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Usman closes the distance and clinches.
Usman has Raujon pressed against the cage, preventing Raujon from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Usman drags the fight down to the ground.
Usman lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Raujon avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Usman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Raujon swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Usman prevents Raujon from getting back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Usman's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Raujon wants to sweep but no luck.
Raujon wants to improve his position but instead Usman has moved into half guard.
Raujon looks winded!
Raujon is looking to control Usman's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Raujon avoid being mounted?
Usman is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Usman landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Raujon is looking to improve his position.
Usman performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Raujon wants to control but Usman is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Usman in particular looking to stall.

Usman decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Usman's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Nice takedown defense from Raujon. No joy for Usman on that attempt.
Raujon lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Usman shoots in and bounces Raujon off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Usman wants to control from the top but Raujon keeps moving.
Raujon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Usman manages to get himself to full guard.

That's time! Usman's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Raujon tries to clinch there but Usman circles away.

Usman is trying to break the clinch but Raujon has him pressed against the cage.
Raujon blocks the elbow strike.
Raujon has Usman pressed against the cage, preventing Usman from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Usman gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Raujon manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Usman blocks an uppercut.
Raujon takes a knee to the side of the body.
Usman trying to land knees to the body.
Raujon wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Raujon is breathing heavily.
Usman can't find room to land a body shot as Raujon controls the action.
Usman jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Raujon walks away with a smile on his face. Usman gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The fight stays on the outside here - Raujon looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Usman looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Raujon!

Usman tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Usman has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Raujon is trying to control Usman's posture but Usman avoids it.

Kamaru Usman overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Raujon's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Usman happy to just control the position for now.

Raujon is looking for a sweep.
Usman tries to advance to mount but Raujon denies him.
Usman is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Raujon will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Usman decides to stand back up. Usman steps back and let's Raujon get back to his feet.
Usman tries a head kick but it misses.

Usman moves into range and clinches up with Raujon.
Raujon scores a nice knee to the body.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Raujon avoiding damage as Usman throws knees to the body.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Raujon wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Raujon just misses with a elbow thrown towards Usman's brow.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Usman pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Usman is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Raujon can do to turn this around?

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Usman has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Raujon is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Raujon breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Usman dives in and grabs Raujon's left leg, looking for a takedown. Raujon pushes down on Usman's head and hops out.
Usman shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Raujon as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kamaru Usman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Usman closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Raujon quickly recovers to half guard.

Usman looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Usman slips a nice elbow through Raujon's hands, connecting with Raujon's forehead.
Usman stops Raujon from getting back to his feet.
Usman wants to free his trapped foot but Raujon is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Usman is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Usman seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Usman perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Raujon has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Usman is working away from the top position though.

Usman escapes and gets back to his feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Usman is looking to clinch but Raujon is avoiding it.
A right-left combo lands from Raujon.

Usman closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Raujon did well to prevent Usman getting side control.

Raujon has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Usman is working away from the top position though.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Usman, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
