Kovingten comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Tool - Schism kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Kyle Kovingten has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ryo Hazuki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 36 - 19 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Kyle Kovingten!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hazuki throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Kovingten on the side of the head.
Kovingten throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Kovingten throws a body shot but no joy.

Hazuki has Kovingten up against the ropes in a clinch.
Kovingten throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Kovingten misses with a body punch.
Hazuki on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Hazuki misses with a hook to the ribs.
Hazuki tries to throw a body punch but Kovingten avoids it by throwing Hazuki back against the ropes.

Kovingten's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hazuki misses with the combination.
Kovingten looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Kovingten throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kovingten tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Hazuki tries to clinch there but Kovingten circles away.

Kovingten scores with a jab and follows up with an uppercut that drops Hazuki to his knees! He bounces straight back to his feet but is forced to take the mandatory standing 8 count before he's allowed to continue. We're back under way and the fighters meet in the middle of the canvas to re-engage.

It looks like Ryo Hazuki has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hazuki throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Hazuki tries to clinch up but Kovingten circles away and keeps his distance.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kovingten swats away the attempt to clinch by Hazuki.
Kovingten connects with a quick right hand that sends Hazuki tumbling backwards onto the canvas! As his head bounces into the ropes, it doesn't look good for him beating the count! 3,4,5,6,7 and he's up! No, he's back down again! This one is all over - the referee has called off the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:13 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Kyle Kovingten!
A very excited looking Kyle Kovingten made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
