The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roger ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Nee moves away.

Roger changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Roger moves forwards but Nee connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Nee loads up on a big right hand but Roger slips the punch.

Roger has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Nee throws a hook to the side of Roger's head but Roger sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Roger stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nee swivels though and keeps the full guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Nee is on top in guard.
Roger is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Roger working for submissions but it's allowed Nee to get to half guard.
Nee wants to stand up but Roger has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Roger tries to roll over but Nee keeps him under control.

Nee stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Roger to get to his feet.
Sloppy strikes from Nee. Those never looked like landing.
Roger looks to score with a jab to the body but Nee is just out of range.
Nee lands with an overhand left.
Nee avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

A slow jab from Roger misses its intended target.
Roger is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Nee.
Roger digs a good hook to Nee's body.
Roger moves into range and connects with a jab.
Jolly Roger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Roger has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Roger moves into range and throws a big uppercut. OH! Nee goes down! Can Roger finish him!?
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Roger accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Roger keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Nee's head.

Roger is landing with some decent strikes but Nee is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Roger has control of Nee's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Nee regains control of the situation pretty easily.
