The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Frost misses with a jab, cross combination.
Frost throws a right hand that Turcotte ducks under and follows up with a left that Turcotte also avoids with ease. Frost bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Turcotte uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Frost.
Frost stuns Turcotte with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Frost scores with a jab to the head.
Turcotte dodges the punch combination from Frost.

Frost throws a series of punches but Turcotte moves out of range. Nice uppercut lands for Frost. That snapped Turcotte's head back.

Frost lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Turcotte circles away quickly and effectively. Turcotte fails in his attempt to clinch. A punch combination from Frost misses. Joe Frost seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Turcotte tries to close the distance and clinch up but Frost swats him away and circles back towards the center. Frost will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Frost wants to stand and escape but Turcotte is having none of it. Turcotte tries to free his leg and advance position but Frost is retaining full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Turcotte chips away with some ground and pound. Turcotte throwing strikes but missing. Turcotte slips nicely into half guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Frost wants to get back to full guard. Frost looks gassed! Turcotte passes to side control.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Frost is trying to escape the mount but Turcotte keeps good control and instead manages to take Frost's back.

and Turcotte counters with a takedown into side control. Frost is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Turcotte tries for a kimura but Frost is defending well. Turcotte lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Frost down.

and Turcotte counters with a big head kick but Frost shrugs it off. Turcotte gets caught flat footed, as Frost shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Frost is breathing heavily. Turcotte throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Frost slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Turcotte lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Frost! Frost defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Turcotte. Turcotte has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Turcotte jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Frost manages to avoid the submission attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Frost is trying to control Turcotte's posture but Turcotte avoids it. Turcotte tries to move to mount but Frost blocks the move with his legs. Frost wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Turcotte working away. Frost takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. That's three minutes gone in the round. Frost jabbing away but nothing is landing. A swing and a miss from Frost. Frost ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Turcotte moves away. Frost throws a combination that misses and Turcotte counters with a shoot takedown. Frost fights it but they end up in guard. Turcotte thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Turcotte advances position into side control!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Turcotte tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Frost pushes Turcotte away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Turcotte gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Turcotte scoring with punches and elbows. Frost is looking to regain half guard here but Turcotte keeps moving and retains side control. Turcotte is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Frost is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Turcotte creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Frost sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. and Turcotte holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Turcotte has Frost pressed against the cage, preventing Frost from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Turcotte connects with a nasty looking knee right to Frost's face.

Turcotte ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Turcotte no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Frost wants to stand but Turcotte is controlling his posture from full guard. Frost is looking to work some ground and pound but Turcotte has wrist control. Turcotte manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's four minutes gone in the round. Turcotte has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Frost really wants to buck Turcotte off and get back to his feet. Turcotte sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Frost is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Turcotte content just to control the position here.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dennis Turcotte. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Turcotte, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
