PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter Kowalski (ranked 2497 p4p, 4600 weight class) and Keith Bishop (ranked 105 p4p, 122 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Bishop's choice of entrance music: Whatever. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Peter Kowalski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 35 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Keith Bishop!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Chris Edwards and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bishop throws an off balance right hand
and Kowalski counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Bishop thinking.
Kowalski uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Bishop.
Kowalski changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Bishop cracks Kowalski with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Kowalski keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Bishop ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kowalski moves away.
Bishop's jab looks to have found its range, popping Kowalski under the eye.

and Kowalski counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Kowalski looking to sit in guard and control but Bishop gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Kowalski bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bishop's guard.

It looks like Keith Bishop has been cut.

That has opened up Keith Bishop's cut even more.
Kowalski stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bishop swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kowalski is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Kowalski might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Bishop throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Kowalski bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Bishop's head backwards.

The cut above Keith Bishop's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Kowalski fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bishop avoids it really well and circles away.
Kowalski with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Bishop to score with a decent uppercut.

Kowalski fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bishop sprawls well initially but Kowalski persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Kowalski thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Kowalski misses with a head shot. Bishop uses the momentum to regain guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kowalski accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Keith Bishop's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Keith Bishop's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Peter Kowalski!
An out of breath and clearly excited Peter Kowalski thanked MKFC for their help and support (and free stuff they sent him).
Keith Bishop spoke after the fight, saying 'Ill Be Back Fans'.
