PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Naoko Marui (ranked 2095 p4p, 1668 weight class) and Kree P Krawlee (ranked 223 p4p, 230 weight class). Krawlee comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Sail kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 22 - 1, fighting out of London, Naoko Marui!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 16 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kree P Krawlee!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Winston Howard and Ben Hemmingworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Krawlee uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Marui has time to react.
Marui misses with a series of wild punches.

Krawlee forces Marui back against the cage and clinches.
Krawlee lands a right hand that snaps the head of Marui backwards.
Marui goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Krawlee scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Krawlee lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Our sources have told us that Marui has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Krawlee.
Marui lands a hook to the side of the head.
Krawlee lands a hook to the side of the head.
Marui misses with a punch to the body.
Marui lands a nice uppercut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Marui is fighting off a takedown attempt but Krawlee is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Marui to the mat. Marui regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Marui pushes Krawlee off and gets back to his feet.
Krawlee tries to clinch there but Marui circles away.
Marui tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Krawlee was well out of range. Poor timing from Marui.
Krawlee moves in looking to clinch but Marui pushes him off.
Marui cracks Krawlee with an open hand slap.

Marui scores with a jab. Krawlee acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Marui ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Krawlee moves away.

and Marui counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Marui swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Marui takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Krawlee drives through and clinches with Marui against the cage.
Marui works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Krawlee changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Marui fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Oooooh!!! Krawlee has knocked Marui down with a huge combo! Krawlee steps away and waves a wobbly Marui back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

It looks like Naoko Marui has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Krawlee swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Oh Marui is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Marui seems to have got his legs back now.
Marui lands a nice shot to the body.

Kree P Krawlee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Krawlee has closed the distance and engaged Marui in a clinch.
Krawlee's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Krawlee is looking for a takedown.
Marui lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Krawlee gets through Marui's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Krawlee is trying to drag Marui to the mat but Marui just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Marui thuds his right hand into Krawlee's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Marui dodges the punch combination from Krawlee.
Marui misses the shot to the body.
Krawlee scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Marui doesn't seem bothered though.
Marui misses with a lunging right hand
and Krawlee connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Krawlee cracks Marui with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Krawlee pushes Marui up against the cage in a clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Marui fails to land.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Krawlee blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Krawlee has Marui pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Marui manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Krawlee drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Marui gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Marui breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Naoko Marui will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Krawlee tries to close the distance and clinch up but Marui swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Krawlee throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Krawlee wants to clinch.
Marui ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Krawlee moves away.
Krawlee throws a lazy right hand but Marui sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
An attempted straight right counter from Marui misses the target.
Marui throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Krawlee tries to close the distance and clinch but Marui swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Krawlee has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
The fight stays on the outside here - Krawlee looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Marui appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Krawlee closes the distance and pushes Marui back into the cage.
Marui goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Krawlee is working for takedown but Marui is calmly controlling the position for now.

Naoko Marui has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kree P Krawlee.

Krawlee is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Marui gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Marui creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Krawlee has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Marui regains guard immediately.

Krawlee thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Marui can't do much from the bottom here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Krawlee is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Marui is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Krawlee tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Marui knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Krawlee on the ground.

Krawlee tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Krawlee has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Marui tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Krawlee in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Marui is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
