Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Devon Black!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Irving Timms!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Dillan Fox and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Black tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Timms is able to avoid easily.
Timms misses with a straight right.
Black half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Timms misses with a series of wild punches.
Black keeps the fight on the outside.
A leg kick checked by Timms.
Black throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Timms sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Timms with the counter takedown but Black avoids it easily.
Black lands with a shot to the body.
Black throws a leg kick but Timms sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Timms closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Black did well to prevent Timms getting side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Black wants to control but Timms is keeping busy.
Timms content to control rather than advance.

Timms is looking for a kimura here.
It looks like Timms is going to stand back up.
Black is trying to get back to full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Timms checks a leg kick.
Timms was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.

Timms instigates a clinch.

Black has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Timms uses from the top position.

Timms not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Black throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Timms escapes and throws Black's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Timms is putting a hurting on Black here, landing some big shots from side control.

Timms decides to stand back up. Timms steps back and let's Black get back to his feet.
Black tries to land a body kick

and Timms counters with a single leg into guard. Black didn't expect that.
Black is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Timms is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Black is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Timms's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Irving Timms dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Timms avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Black enables Timms to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Black manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Black looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Black seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Timms thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Black is looking for a triangle but Timms pushes his legs off easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Black wants to control but Timms passes easily into half guard.

Black is defending against the submission attempts here by Timms.

Timms stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Black to get to his feet.

Timms moves into the clinch.
Timms is pressed up against the cage. Black has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Timms down to the mat. Timms avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Timms fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Black to the ground. Timms is now in Black's guard.
We've been informed that Timms has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Black wants to control the position but Timms says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Timms is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Well, if Timms is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Let's hope that Timms has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Timms has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Timms takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Black is trying to maintain the position but Timms is very close to passing his half guard.
Timms prevents Black from improving his position.
Black is looking to get back to full guard here but Timms has managed to pass to side control instead.
Black manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Timms is controlling Black's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Black wants to take a breather but Timms is having none of it.

Timms pushes Black off and gets back to his feet.
Black throws out a loose jab but Timms uses good head movement to avoid it.
Black misses with a body punch

and Timms counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Timms.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Black can't keep his opponent in guard - Timms advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Timms looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Timms is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Black is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Timms's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Timms's back!

Irving Timms showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Black lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Black tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Timms was well out of range. Poor timing from Black.

Timms shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Timms uses his free foot to push down on Black's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Black.
Black wants to control but Timms is having none of it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Black is in all sorts of trouble here.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Timms seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Irving Timms comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Timms winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
